To celebrate the 2018 ASEAN Student Conference that will open in Danang, on March 31st DTU held an English contest entitled ASEAN Integration 2018. High school students from Danang and Quang Nam province participated.
The contest teaches high school students about ASEAN
Six teams from the Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Ngo Quyen High School, Hoang Hoa Tham High School, Nui Thanh High School in Danang; Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted in Quang Nam competed in three sections, Introduction, Knowledge of ASEAN and Eloquence.
In the Knowledge of ASEAN section, contestants were asked about ASEAN history and key dates, and the best places to visit in ASEAN. Topics in the Eloquence section included the importance of learning English, friendship between ASIAN members and the individual cultures of ASEAN people.
The objective was to improve the Speaking and Listening skills of high school students, to enhance the quality of English teaching in high schools and allow the students to demonstrate their communication, eloquence and research skills in English and exchange experiences and information on ASEAN.
First prize went to Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, the Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted in Quang Nam came second and the Hoang Hoa Tham High School third.
