Inaccurate or uncertain data can cause hardships for individuals and businesses when accessing trustworthy information. On November 30th, DTU and the Japanese Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) organized “The International Symposium on Integrated Uncertainty in Knowledge Modelling and Decision Making - IUKM 2016”. Over a hundred delegates from the US, France, Japan, Thailand, China, Austria and others attended.
According to Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, DTU Vice Provost, in a world that is flooded with information, inaccurate or uncertain data can cause hardships for individuals, groups, or businesses when accessing trustworthy information. To correctly solve issues in economics, management, or society, we need to have analyses and processing methods to discard inaccurate data. IUKM 2016 provides a forum for the exchange of research and ideas and experiences encountered by experts involved in all aspects of uncertainty modeling and management.
Many IT experts attend the conference
Topics presented included: Modelling uncertainty and inconsistency in big data, Logics for reasoning under uncertainty and others. During the three days of the conference, the Organizers invited three leading scientists from France, Poland and Vietnam to give public lectures on their research.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Thanh, Director of the Danang Department of Information and Communications, said: “Danang is one of the leading localities in the application of IT to the management of the administrative apparatus. Danang has a huge database. This is why the authorities are very interested in using computational, storage, and database analysis models from scientists worldwide. As Danang is to develop from the electronic government model to the 'smart city' model, it very much needs inventions and innovations in processing and integration of information.”
This fifth IUKM allowed Vietnamese and foreign scientists to share their latest research and enhance collaboration in training and research, in order to better support individuals, groups and enterprises in accessing the pertinent information to solve their economic, social and managerial problems.
