Conference on Developing Recreational Facilities in Danang

On September 10th, the DTU Faculty of Tourism hosted a conference on developing recreational facilities in Danang. Representatives from the Danang Tourism Department, travel agencies, the DTU Board of Provosts, the DTU Institute of Socio-Economic Research, and lecturers and students from the DTU Faculty of Tourism attended.
 
Recently, Danang has become an attractive destination for domestic and foreign visitors, and tourism here has flourished and made a significant contribution to the general development of the city. The conference aimed to look for effective ways of developing recreational facilities and finding investors.

In discussing plans to develop more recreational services in Danang, a research project by the DTU Faculty of Tourism and local travel agencies provided participants a better understanding of the current tourism and hospitality environment in Danang and the South Central coast. Papers covered the many opportunities to improve the quality of recreational facilities. These included plans already underway to promote services providing Water Tourism, Medical Tourism, Ecotourism, Cultural Tourism, Adventure Tourism, Business Tourism, shopping, conferences and so on, together with practical policies for the selection, creation and construction of attractive landmarks, drawing on the participation of local communities and so on.

Many constructive ideas were proposed and participants fully concurred with the enhancement of promotional activities to attract investment in Water Tourism, improving administrative procedures and others.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Duc Toan, DTU Vice-Provost, said: “To keep pace with the fast growth of domestic and overseas tourism, DTU has attached special importance to improving and standardizing the quality of education, increasing English classes for students of Tourism and Hospitality and using advanced teaching materials and programs transferred from well-known foreign universities. In addition, the Tourism Faculty has collaborated with local companies, such as the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort, the Furama Resort, Vitours, Vietravel and SaigonTourist, to broaden internship and job opportunities for students and to meet the increasing demand for well-qualified local staff.”
