Founded on November 11th 1994, DTU was one of the first four private universities in Vietnam and the first and largest in the Central Vietnam and Highlands region. Over the past 22 years, with great effort and dedication, DTU has developed steadily and supplies highly-educated graduates to meet the international standards of local and national companies. DTU has shared the lives of generations of students to help make their dreams come true.
Modern DTU campuses
So far, the university has enrolled 27 students in three PhD programs, 1,500 in 13 Master’s programs and 68,613 in 21 Bachelor’s programs and Associate Bachelor's programs, 1,500 in 4 programs at the Vocational College and 10 Vocational high school courses, with 10,000 students. Up to now, DTU has graduated 50,000 Masters, Engineers, Architects and Bachelors. An average of 90% of DTU students find jobs within six months of graduation, including 100% of the Software Engineers, confirming the quality of education at the university. Many of them have since been appointed to key positions in government agencies and companies.
DTU offers many kinds of programs, including Information Technology, Business Administration, Foreign Languages, Hospitality, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Environment, Medicine, Pharmacology, Literature-Journalism, International Relations, and Economics Law. With the motto “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants”, DTU has advocated a policy of education focused on local social and business requirements by collaborating with well-known foreign universities. These programs encompass education technology transfer, research collaboration and student and lecturer exchanges. Ten programs are taught in partnership with three leading American universities (Carnegie Mellon University (CMU); Pennsylvania State University (PSU) and the State University of California at (CSU). In 2012, DTU became one of the five founding members of the Passage to ASEAN Network, launched by Rangsit University in Thailand and participated in the Learning Express program initiated by Singapore Polytechnic. Participating in these two ASEAN community programs allows students to broaden their outlook and share new ideas.
Research at the university has also increased considerably. DTU is actively participating in four government projects, eight provincial and urban, eighteen Nafosted projects and two sponsored by international financial organizations. 183 papers have been published internationally in well-read ISI-indexed magazines. Duy Tan University has become one of the top 20 universities in Vietnam, in terms of the volume of international publications.
In addition, students have demonstrated their talents in major competitions, nationally and worldwide. They have won many awards, including the 2013 CDIO Cup from the CDIO Academy for engineering projects, held at Harvard University and MIT in the U.S; the Asia-Pacific IDEERS Championship in 2014, the first prize in the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2016 and a National championship in the Go Green in the City contest in 2016 and so on.
Since 2006, DTU has held a Jobs Fair jointly with the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, which attracts three hundred companies from Danang and elsewhere. They have received 22,000 job applications and hired 15,000 students. On average, DTU receives from 3,000 to 5,000 applications a year, enabling graduates to find jobs more easily, improving the relationships between universities and local business and the quality of education at DTU.
DTU receives many awards
DTU has been honored with awards from the President of Vietnam, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Education and Training and the Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee. DTU was awarded a Second-Level Labor Medal by the Party and State leadership, and Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co received the title of Hero of Labor for his role in the rebuilding of Vietnam.
DTU’s success is the result of the contributions of its entire staff, lecturers and students, but above all, it stems from the ideas, passion, solidarity and selfless efforts of the Board of Trustees and Provosts for the development of DTU up to now and into the future.
