On January 27th, DTU hosted a Career Orientation and Networking seminar with the CFO of Abbott Laboratories Vietnam. Mr. Alvin Yap. Ms. Huynh Ngoc Thien, Director of CPA Australia, in HCMC and Associate Professor Le Duc Toan, DTU Provost, and lecturers and students of Accounting attended.

Ms. Huynh Ngoc Thien was happy to visit DTU again. She said: “This is the second time I have come to DTU and I believe that this seminar will bridge students and business enterprises and provide you with a focused career orientation. We want to help you make your dreams come true.”

Then Mr. Yap talked about “How to Succeed in Finance”. He shared with DTU students his experiences in career development, how to keep pace with global integration and how to devise collaborative and other strategies. He also gave practical examples of risk-taking.
Interesting questions about recruitment and the skills required to work in Finance were raised by DTU Accounting students. Nguyen Van Loi, of K21KDN1, said: “I have learnt a lot of from the seminar, which will help me in my career planning.”
Finally Mr. Lam Quang Tuan, Sales Manager of CPA Australia explained the CPA program and the advantages of becoming a member. A CPA is a Finance, Accounting and Business professional with specialized qualifications, a sound knowledge of the principles of Accounting and high competence. On completing the program, members become part of one of the most prestigious Accounting associations in the world.
