DTU Judges Projects Created by High School Students in Quang Nam

On January 11th to 12th, the Quang Nam Department of Education and Training and Duy Tan University held a Provincial Scientific and Technological Competition for 2015/16 High School Students, at Tran Quy Cap High school in Hoi An.  The DTU delegates assessed and selected six projects for the national finals.

The competition aimed to encourage students to do research, put their knowledge into practice, reform teaching methods, improve students’ qualifications, the quality of high-school education and encourage schools to do research.  
 
  
The projects 
 
DTU has made several achievements in research over the years, including one hundred and thirty-one publications in ISI-indexed journals, winning the 2013 CDIO Cup at the CDIO Academy at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with the project “A Low-cost Do-It-Yourself Water-Filtering System for Farmers”, the Asia-Pacific Regional IDEERS Champions Cup at the 2014 IDEERS convention, held at the National Centre for Research on Earthquake Engineering in Taiwan and others. So the Quang Nam Department of Education and Training entrusted DTU to judge the competition, conducted by Dr. Tran Nhat Tan, Dr. Ta Quoc Bao, Dr. Le Hoang Sinh and others.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Thanh, Deputy Director of Quang Nam Department of Education and Training, said: “With support from DTU, we have run training courses, seminars and competitions. The quantity and quality of submissions in this year’s competition has increased. We hope that the authors of the best papers succeed in the next round.”
 
Eight projects out of forty-four submissions were selected. DTU presented six award of one million dong each to encourage the students. DTU will continue to improve knowledge, skills and modern laboratory for high school students to perfect their projects for the national round.
