On February 6th, a closing ceremony for the first semester of academic year 2012-2013 was held at DTU. This was an opportunity for the DTU Provosts, the Management Board and more than 800 DTU faculty and staff to meet just before the Lunar New Year.
Dr. Vo Thanh Hai delivers a closing report on the first semester
On behalf of the DTU Provosts, Dr. Vo Thanh Hai reported on the achievements of the first semester of 2012-2013. He stated that DTU met the enrollment target set by the MOET and that admissions had increased. The student population has reached 18,000, with the applications from students as far away as Bac Lieu, Lang Son and Kien Giang.
In addition, DTU has set new standards for each major, applying the MyDTU software to manage procedures in the new academic year. Over the past four years, the number of excellent students has risen to 9.4%. DTU has spent 800 million VND to recognize outstanding students and 300 million VND in financial aid. Other achievements include increasing collaborations with local companies. Employing more foreign lecturers to teach at DTU is also being reviewed.
“By reaching the target in 2012 enrollment and other recent achievements, DTU has been selected by the government to receive awards at the end of this year. I hope that all DTU faculty and staff will make greater efforts to gain higher achievements”, said Dr. Vo Thah Hai.

Mr. Phan Van Son, Head of DTU Office of Administration, then summed up the achievements of the DTU Trade Union during the first semester. Individuals and groups with high performance were presented with certificates of merit and gifts at the ceremony.
Mr. Le Cong Co, DTU Chairman and Provost made a short speech at the end of the meeting. “In 2012, we have made great efforts and achieved remarkable results. The DTU Research and Development Center was established to promote the pursuit of scientific research. On behalf of the DTU Provosts and Management Board, I would like to wish you a happy, healthy and successful New Year. Hopefully, the entire DTU faculty and staff will work together closely to reach new heights in 2013”.
