All for “A More Livable and Smarter Danang”

International experts from IBM visited several local universities to investigate how Danang could become “A More Livable and Smarter City”. At DTU, a meeting was held with DTU students in Hall 713 on May 18, 2012.

Dr. Peter Williams addresses the meeting

Attendees included Dr. Peter Williams, IBM Chief Technology Officer, DTU Vice-Provosts Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, Dr. Vo Thanh Hai and Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Minh, DTU deans and students.

Danang was on the list of 33 cities winning IBM’s “Smarter City” competition. As a result, local government has launched a campaign to make Danang a “More Livable and Smarter City”. “When we become a Smarter City, Danang will face up to global issues, such as pollution, natural disasters, traffic jams, contamination water and so on. Living standards will improve and citizens will become more aware of the humanitarian needs of our society”, said Mr. Van Huu Chien, Chairman of the Danang Peoples’ Committee.

A presentation on technological investment was given by Dr. Peter Williams and DTU students all seemed to be enthused by this campaign and posed some interesting questions about how we could build Danang into a “More Livable and Smarter City”.
