On December 16, DTU lecturers and students experienced a vibrant re-creation of the warm, joyful, loving and uplifting feelings of Christmas during a classical music concert entitled: "An Evening of Classical Serenity”, performed by 16 Korean musicians from the New York Classical Music Society (NY CMS).
The Classic Concert at DTU
The concert was part of the ASEAN - Korea Cultural Exchange Week, hosted by DTU in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Institute in Hanoi and the Korea Tourism Organization. A large number of lecturers and students from ASEAN countries and Korea attended the performance.
2023 marks the commencement of the second 30th term of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea, and the NYCMS 16 musicians included:
- Pianist: Lynn Czae
- Violinists: JiyeonRyu, Nonjung Lee, SeulaCzae, YooKyung Min, Joohyun Park, You Kyoung Yoon, Nakwon Choi, Joseph Yosub Lim and Deokjin
- Cellists: Cheol Min Auh and Seungsei Kim
- Flutist: SeongSik Kim
- Tenors: Sung Koo Kang and YoungSooJeung; Baritone: Sol Jin.
Featuring songs by famous composers, such as:
- Concert No. 4, by Beethoven,
- Op.8, rv 297, "Winter", by Antonio Vivaldi
- Mozart Piano Concerto K.415, 1st Movement
The distinctive blend of classical music and traditional Christmas carols warmed the hearts of the audience.
The NY CMS awards 10 scholarships to DTU students
The NY CMS awarded 10 scholarships to needy DTU students who achieved excellent results over the past semester, serving as a valuable source of encouragement for them to achieve even more success in the future. Established in 2004, NY CMS is one of the world's leading non-profit organizations who organize classical music concerts. This was the fifth time that NY CMS has arranged a concert series in Vietnam. The NY CMS group performed at the University of Economics in HCMC before coming to DTU.
