On July 18, DTU, the Koyama Healthcare Group and the Suganuma Group from Japan signed a memorandum of understanding, to work together on improving the quality of personnel in the healthcare sector in Vietnam. Koyama Healthcare Chairman, Mr. Koyama Yasunari said:
“Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the founding of our group, we’re delighted to sign this important agreement today. Medicine is science, but care is culture and, in Japan, 30% of the population is now elderly, compared with 10% in Vietnam, similar to Japan 40 years ago. We hope that today’s agreement will motivate young people dedicated to healthcare to broaden their knowledge and skills, and contribute to the community in the near future. Currently one hundred Vietnamese are involved in healthcare in Japan and I hope that, after today’s agreement, more DTU students will go to Japan to study and work.”

The tripartite cooperation between DTU, Koyama Healthcare, and the Suganuma Group will facilitate study and exchanges of staff, lecturers and medical students, and lead to an even closer friendship between Vietnam and Japan. The partners will work together to:
DTU Signs Medical Care Agreement with Japanese Companies
- Support teaching courses in the DTU Faculty of Nursing, in studies and professional practice
- Enable DTU College of Medicine & Pharmacy students to take part in joint educational projects
- Implement projects to achieve comprehensive cooperation in medical care, especially in Danang.
Mr. Kurato said: “As DTU is expanding health sciences education, signing agreements with Japanese medical companies is highly beneficial to its students and further improves the standard of the university. I hope that today’s tripartite agreement will expand opportunities for DTU graduates, give them access to the best career opportunities, and contribute to the quality of health in the community.”

The tripartite cooperation is aimed at building a comprehensive system from training and research, to care and treatment, and to the development of professional healthcare services in Vietnam. With their strength and experience in health and medical care, Koyama will be able to organize constructive projects which contribute to health care in Danang and elsewhere.
DTU Vice-Provost Dr. Nguyen Huu Phu said: “Over the years, DTU has signed agreements with several well-known companies and universities worldwide. We believe this is one of the best ways to improve education and research, to meet the rigorous requirements of the current labor market. It’s a great pleasure to welcome Koyama and Suganuma to work together with us to improve the quality of our healthcare workforce. I believe that DTU partnerships with Japanese companies will increase as our development continues.”
