DTU Partnership with Samsung in Anticipation of Technology Development

In early 2023, the Samsung Group and DTU met at Samsung headquarters in South Korea and at DTU in Danang for discussions and the signing of a MoU agreement. The objective was to work together to educate highly qualified human resources in IT and Electrical Engineering. On May 23, Samsung and DTU implemented the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) global education program for IT & Communications students.

Samsung is Korea’s leading corporation, accounting for 20.3% of the country’s GDP in 2021, manufacturing semiconductors, memory devices, TVs, and smartphones. Samsung is continuously expanding worldwide, especially in Vietnam.
 
The strength of its operations has already contributed to the development of the Vietnamese electronics industry, drives exports, creates jobs, and benefits its people. The Vietnamese government has also committed to always create the most favorable conditions for foreign investors like Samsung, to cooperate on long-term production and trade missions, and now on the development of workforce training programs. The Samsung Innovation Campus global education program specializes in training IT & Communications students and has already been implemented in many other countries.
 
The program offers three technology skill development courses for those aged from 14 to 24, in addition to a course in basic coding & programming skills:
 
- Internet of Things (IoT),
- Artificial Intelligence (AI),
- Big Data

The SIC program in Vietnam was initiated in 2019 and now comprises six thousand lecturers and students. It was designed on an educational foundation that combines future core technology skills with soft skills and practical work skills. 
 
The curriculum is selected through stratified surveys according to development trends in the industries in each different region, combined with recruitment demand at large companies. The program also provides supplementary career orientation throughout the program. Graduates receive a Samsung Innovation Campus course completion certificate and can then participate in many other valuable program activities, including the Innovation Tech Challenge which allows students to apply the practical knowledge and skills they acquired in the program.
