Nguyen Thi Thuy Tram, a DTU Graphic Design student, was awarded a trophy and a Certificate of Merit for being among the top 100 submissions in the 2020 American Graphic Design Awards competition. She designed a distinctive logo entitled ‘Anna’s Underwear Boutique’.

Thuy Tram used Adobe Illustrator to coordinate shape, layout and color, to design a pleasing and popular bright pink logo to inspire and charm the wearers. Thuy Tram explained: “The logo was inscribed with 'Anna’s Underwear Boutique' because it sounds intimate and familiar. When I started designing logos, I spent one week studying professional examples in order to understand current design trends and broaden my knowledge in this field.”
Thuy Tram added that there is much graphic design software now available, but that she only uses Adobe Illustrator because it is popular and flexible and most suitable for logo design. “This software allows users to easily access all the necessary tools and effectively create and edit their work.”

The annual ‘American Graphic Design Awards’ is among the top fifteen competitions in the field in America, held by the Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) magazine for professionals, and first published in 1963.
Thuy Tram has loved drawing since childhood and, as she got older, she wanted to learn more. She watched instructional videos and enrolled in the DTU Graphic Design course to learn about brand identity, marketing, advertising and video game production to become a highly-skilled professional designer.
Thuy Tram said: “Unfortunately, my family did not initially support me in my choice of Drawing and the Graphic Design studies, so I always tried hard to achieve the best academic results to prove it. Now, since I received my award, they are much happier and encourage me to pursue my dream with more self-confidence”.
Thuy Tram is self-disciplined but somewhat stubborn. She wants to move on quickly and break out of her comfort zone. She explained: "Nothing can stop me, I will overcome all difficulties if I try hard". Thuy Tram is already well on her way with her success in the ‘American Graphic Design Awards’ contest.
