Achievements

By participating in and achieving outstanding results at events ranging from the Korean Language and Culture Festival in Central Vietnam to the 2026 International Chinese Language Festival, students from the School of Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences (LHSS) at Duy Tan University (DTU) attracted considerable attention for their creativity, academic competence, and ability to foster cross-cultural connections.

2026 Korean Language and Culture Festival in Hue

After traveling to the former imperial capital of Hue, enthusiastic students from the Faculty of Korean Language at DTU’s School of Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences enjoyed an inspiring day of competition at the Korean Language and Culture Festival in Central Vietnam in March 2026.

With thorough preparation and wholehearted enthusiasm in every category, DTU students achieved excellent results, including:

-    Second Prize in the K-Video Competition;
-    the Running Man Team Prize;
-    Third prize in the K-pop Dance Competition;
-    Third prize in the Comedy Performance Competition; and
-    a Consolation prize in the “Road to the Top of Hallasan” Quiz.

The participation of numerous prestigious universities and educational institutions from across Central Vietnam contributed significantly to the scale and appeal of the festival. Participating institutions included the University of Foreign Languages and International Studies under Hue University, DTU, Dong A University, the Vietnam-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, and several high schools in Hue City.

The festival featured a diverse range of academic and entertainment activities. Highlights included the “Running Man - Treasure Hunt” challenge, K-pop Random Dance, and competitions in Korean writing, the “Road to the Top of Hallasan” quiz, acting, K-pop singing and dancing, and K-Video content creation.

One of the most memorable entries at the festival was a carefully produced video about the local dialect spoken in Busan. Created by a group of DTU students, the video won Second Prize in the K-Video Competition. The project clearly demonstrated the students’ academic knowledge through its exploration of the phonetic, intonational, and lexical characteristics of the Busan dialect. By skillfully incorporating cultural contexts and real-life communication situations, together with effective video-editing and sound-processing techniques, the students enhanced both the academic value and practical relevance of their work. Winning Second prize in the K-Video Competition further affirmed the students’ strong command of Korean while showcasing their research skills, creativity, and ability to communicate specialized content in a lively and accessible manner.

“With the support of lecturers from DTU’s Faculty of Korean Language, we developed scenes that directly compared the Busan dialect with standard Korean as spoken in Seoul, thereby highlighting the regional diversity of the language. Through the competition, we not only improved our content-creation skills but also gained a deeper understanding of our field of study. This has given us greater motivation to continue learning and developing ourselves in the future,” said Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyen, a Korean Language student and a member of the team that won Second prize in the K-Video Competition.

2026 International Chinese Language Festival in Da Nang

Students from the Faculty of Chinese Language at DTU’s School of Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences also made a strong impression with a series of remarkable achievements at the 2026 International Chinese Language Festival.
Under the theme “Chinese Language: Lighting Up Colorful Dreams,” the festival was held at the University of Foreign Language Studies, the University of Danang, on April 24, 2026.

The awards reflect the remarkable efforts and outstanding language proficiency of DTU students

DTU teams proudly brought home:

-    one Second and one Consolation prize in the Dubbing Competition; and
-    one Third and one Consolation prize in the Calligraphy Competition.

DTU students attended the festival not only to interact with and learn from others but also to demonstrate their thorough preparation, solid academic foundations, and confidence in every competition.

From trying on traditional Hanfu costumes and experiencing the art of mask painting to enthusiastically participating in multilingual conversations, students from DTU’s Faculty of Chinese Language had numerous opportunities to broaden their cultural perspectives, deepen their understanding, and improve their adaptability in an international exchange environment.

At the 2026 International Chinese Language Festival, a team of Business Chinese students from DTU won Second Prize in the Dubbing Competition.

“Dubbing is not simply about reading dialogue aloud. It is a process that requires accuracy, appropriate emotional expression, and effective coordination among team members. For our team, the greatest challenge was controlling the timing of our delivery so that every line matched the characters’ lip movements, the pace of the scene transitions, and the development of their emotions. Each member not only had to perform their own role well but also needed to understand and support the others to ensure that the final product flowed smoothly. 

The most valuable thing we gained was not only the final result but also the experience of learning to pay close attention to every small detail and developing a strong sense of teamwork in order to create the best possible product. It was an extremely meaningful practical experience for every member of the team,” said Ly Duc Thanh, a DTU Business Chinese student.

An award-winning calligraphy work created by a DTU student

In addition, Tran Bich Ha won Third Prize in the Calligraphy Competition, a particularly distinctive category. The competition topic focused on the scenery of Jiangnan, a region renowned for its picturesque waterways and peaceful, poetic beauty. Bich Ha expressed some regret that she had not been able to fully convey the depth and beauty of the region’s landscape. Nevertheless, her work left a strong impression because of its harmonious composition, graceful brushstrokes, and meticulous attention to detail.

“Calligraphy is the art of writing characters with a brush and is expressed through individual strokes, variations in intensity, and the overall arrangement of the characters. It therefore requires patience and a high level of concentration. I am very passionate about this art form because practicing calligraphy helps me develop perseverance while also allowing me to appreciate the aesthetic value and cultural depth contained in every brushstroke,” said Tran Bich Ha, a student majoring in Chinese Translation and Interpreting.
