The Closing Ceremony of the 12th National Festival for Architecture Students

On December 10, the closing ceremony of the 12th National Festival for Architecture students, sponsored jointly by the Vietnam Association of Architects (VAA) and the Vietnam Young Architects Club took place at the Trung Vuong Opera House in Danang, ending on a lively note. Outstanding individuals and teams were awarded valuable prizes as the excited and joyful attendees were inspired by strong feelings of connecting and bonding with each other.

Attendees included: Danang: D.Arch. To Van Hung, City Party Member, Director of the Department of Natural Resources & Environment and Director of the Danang Association of Architects; Mr. Mai Tan Linh, Deputy-Director of the Department of Education & Training; VAA: VAA Chairman D.Arch. Phan Dang Son; Architect. Nguyen Tan Van, former Vice-Minister of Construction and former VAA Chairman; Professor Nguyen Quoc Thong, Chairman of the Architecture Council; and VAA Vice-Chairman Architect Nguyen Thu Phong; DTU: Hero of Labor and Meritorious Teacher Le Cong Co, Board of Trustees Chairman; Provost Dr. Le Nguyen Bao; Standing Vice-Provost Dr. Vo Thanh Hai; Dr. Ha Dac Binh, Provost of the DTU School of Technology; and lecturers and students from universities nationwide.
 
“The organization of this year’s National Festival for Architecture Students proved to be difficult, complex and hard work,” said VAA Vice-Chairman Architect Nguyen Thu Phong. “It has been a great success however, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, thanks to the determination and resolve of the DTU Board of Provosts, the VAA and the support and commitment of all the universities participating. On behalf of the organizing committee, I’d like to thank everyone for their courage in overcoming all the obstacles. The lecturers’ collegiality and student unity and passion could very well have been the uniting factors responsible for this energizing and exciting festival.”
 
The 2020 Festival was a meaningful and instructive experience for all 400 students and 70 lecturers of Architecture from 21 universities nationwide. Working on the topic “Architecture in the Digital Age”, students were divided into teams to compete in six sections: Parametric Shaping, Quick Design A, Quick Design B, Art Drawing, Photography and Sand Sculpture. After three days of competition, the winning individuals and teams were announced on the closing night.

VAA Chairman, D.Arch. Phan Dang Son and DTU Provost Dr. Le Nguyen Bao presented the festival banner and cup to Associate Professor Nguyen Vu Phuong, Provost of the Mien Trung University of Civil Engineering. In 2022, the Mien Trung will host the 13th National Festival for Architecture Students.
