On December 5th, the University Ranking by Academic Performance organization (URAP) announced the world’s top 3,000 universities in 2020. Twelve Vietnam universities were listed, an increase of 4 compared to 2019-2020.
Duy Tan University jumped 337 places from last year to 770th worldwide and 2nd in Vietnam. Ton Duc Thang University and Duy Tan University are ranked in the top 1,000 worldwide
Vietnamese universities listed were:
- Ton Duc Thang University in HCMC climbed 321 places to 639th worldwide and 1st in Vietnam
- Duy Tan University jumped 337 places to 770th and 2nd in Vietnam
- The Vietnam National University-Hanoi, at 1,066th
- Vietnam National University in HCMC, at 1,136th
- The Hanoi Medical University, at 1,339th
- The Hanoi University of Science and Technology, at 1,425th
- Can Tho University, at 2,230th
- Hue University, at 2,288th
Four universities making their first appearance this year were:
- Nguyen Tat Thanh University, at 2,042nd
- Vietnam National University of Agriculture, at 2,368th
- Hanoi National University of Education, at 2,655th
- Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, at 2,662nd
URAP uses data from the Web of Science for ranking. The criteria measured are quantity and quality of scientific publications, the citation index and scientific impact, which are the main weightings in the assessment process. URAP works independently, without recourse to self-reporting by universities or through expert voting, and is becoming well-known for its objectivity.
