Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming virtually every profession. The key question is no longer whether AI will replace people, but whether they are prepared to harness it effectively. At Duy Tan University (DTU), this preparation began early and has been integrated into the learning experience of students across all fields of study.

 

When AI is no longer just for “Techies”


Workforce forecasts indicate that AI skills will become increasingly important across a wide range of professions in the coming years. This transformation will affect healthcare, communications, finance, law, business administration, tourism, the performing arts, education, and many other fields. Recognizing that the future is already taking shape, DTU is developing a comprehensive AI ecosystem. AI is not treated as a stand-alone addition to the curriculum. Instead, it is a central element of the University’s educational vision. DTU aims to equip every student, researcher, and aspiring entrepreneur with AI knowledge and skills, ranging from foundational literacy to advanced, discipline-specific applications.

 

AI education for every student - regardless of majors

 

A defining feature of DTU’s AI education strategy is its commitment to ensuring that students across all majors complete three progressively structured AI courses:

 

1. Understanding the fundamental principles, capabilities, and limitations of AI;
2. Using AI tools effectively and responsibly in learning, research, and professional work; and
3. Applying advanced AI technologies within each student’s chosen field.


For example, Nursing students can learn to use AI to support clinical decision-making and patient care. Architecture and Civil Engineering students can explore AI-assisted design, modeling, and structural simulation. Business Administration students can use AI to analyze customer and market data to inform marketing and product-development decisions. This is the foundation of DTU’s “X + AI” education model, in which AI is integrated into every discipline and becomes a “second professional language” for students.

The AI Lab network: from specialized training to interdisciplinary learning

 

AI cannot be learned through textbooks and theoretical instruction alone. Meaningful AI capability also requires opportunities to practice, experiment, conduct research, and develop original solutions. DTU has invested in a network of specialized AI laboratories supporting advanced education and research in technology-related disciplines, together with interdisciplinary AI application labs.


Within these facilities, students in Medicine, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Tourism, Communications, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Law, and other fields can experiment with AI technologies and develop solutions relevant to their areas of study.

and interdisciplinary collaboration while enabling students to practice, conduct research, and develop practical AI solutions


In these laboratories, traditional boundaries between academic disciplines begin to disappear. A project team may bring together students from Information Technology, Medicine, Architecture, and Civil Engineering to develop an AI solution supporting public health.
This interdisciplinary environment reflects the way modern workplaces are evolving under the influence of AI. Through DTU’s AI lab network, students can experience this collaborative approach directly on campus.

 

Partnering with global technology leaders


The quality of DTU’s AI education is strengthened by its partnerships with leading technology corporations and organizations. DTU collaborates with Samsung, Google, AMD, Alibaba Cloud, UBTECH Robotics, Minto AI, Kmax, and other partners to develop AI applications and AI agents, strengthen laboratory infrastructure, and implement educational programs aligned with international technology trends and professional standards.

Real Learning, Real Competition, and Real-World Experience

 

Knowledge becomes a genuine capability only when it is repeatedly put into practice. DTU regularly organizes hands-on AI competitions and encourages students to participate in technology challenges at the national, regional, and international levels. These activities include AI product-development hackathons, competitions based on real-world business challenges, the ASEAN AI Hackathon, and the Vietnam AI Innovation Challenge.


Through these competitions, students strengthen not only their technical knowledge but also their problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills. They also gain the confidence to present their ideas before panels of experts and prospective employers - an experience that cannot be gained through textbooks alone.
