From Hospitality and Tourism to Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Foreign Languages, students at Duy Tan University (DTU) have opportunities to undertake internships abroad, experience international corporate environments, and participate in advanced internship programs offering attractive salaries of up to thousands of dollars.

Hospitality and Tourism students earn SGD 1,500 - 1,800 per month (approximately VND 31–37 million)

Traveling to destinations such as Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand, students from DTU’s Hospitality and Tourism Institute (HTi) are turning their “Go Global” aspirations into reality through international internships undertaken during their studies.

DTU Hospitality and Tourism students undertake internships in Singapore

 
In August and September 2026, 13 students from the Hospitality and Tourism Institute (HTi) traveled to Singapore to undertake six-month internships:

- Le Thi Thu Ny, Luong Thi Minh Thu, and Duong Ton Minh Ngoc, who are majoring in PSU-standard International Restaurant Management, together with Le Thanh Chung Anh, who is majoring in Cultural Tourism, are undertaking internships at Pullman Singapore Hill Street.
- Nguyen Xuan Truong, who is majoring in PSU-standard International Restaurant Management; Phung Thi Ngoc Diep, who is majoring in Hospitality Management; Nguyen Le Huyen Trang, who is specializing in English-language International Tour Guiding; and Do Van Lenh, who is specializing in Tourism and Travel Management, are undertaking internships at Furama RiverFront Singapore.
- Lang Thi Van Anh and Dao Ngoc Khanh Ly, who are majoring in TROY Tourism and Hospitality Management; Ngo Duc Quang Thach and Le Nguyen My Thu, who are majoring in Tourism and Travel Management; and Le Thi Tra My, who is majoring in PSU-standard International Restaurant Management, are undertaking internships at Wyndham Singapore Hotel.

Working in departments ranging from Food and Beverage and Front Office to Housekeeping, the DTU students will participate directly in hotel operations while improving their foreign-language proficiency, communication skills, adaptability, and professional conduct in a multicultural hospitality environment. During internships at Pullman Singapore Hill Street, Wyndham Singapore Hotel, and Furama RiverFront Singapore, DTU students gain hands-on experience in departments such as Food and Beverage, Front Office, and Housekeeping. They gradually become familiar with operational procedures, service standards, and Singapore’s professional working environment. The students earn between SGD 1,500 and SGD 1,800 per month, equivalent to approximately VND 31–37 million. Beyond the financial benefits, the internships also allow them to improve their foreign-language proficiency, adaptability, professional conduct, and practical experience in an international environment.

 
DTU students enjoy a considerable advantage when pursuing opportunities in Singapore. Effective January 1, 2026, DTU is one of three universities whose qualifications, across all disciplines offered by the institution, are eligible for 20 points under Singapore’s Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS). Therefore, in addition to overseas internships offering thousand-dollar stipends, DTU students also benefit from the value and recognition of their qualifications when seeking employment opportunities in Singapore after graduation. 

DTU belongs to Group A, receiving 20 priority points for all training programs, whereas

Vietnam National University, HCMC and Vietnam National University, Hanoi belong to Group B, with 4 programs receiving 20 priority points.

 
DTU is classified in Group A on the list of educational institutions recognized by Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM) under Criterion C2 – Qualifications - of the Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS). Accordingly, bachelor’s degrees or higher awarded by any DTU faculty qualify for 20 points under this criterion when candidates meet the eligibility requirements for an Employment Pass. DTU is also one of only three Vietnamese higher education institutions included on the list.

Along with Singapore, Hong Kong is one of the most popular destinations for international internships among DTU Hospitality and Tourism students. Following the signing of a cooperation agreement in November 2024 with Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View, a five-star hotel operated by Marriott International, nearly 30 HTi students undertake internships there each year. They earn up to HKD 7,000 per month, equivalent to approximately VND 23 million. DTU Hospitality and Tourism students receive a similar salary while interning at several other hotels in Hong Kong, including Sheraton and Four Points by Sheraton Hong Kong, Tung Chung.

Diverse activities enhance DTU students’ professional competence in Hospitality and Tourism

Cybersecurity: Hands-on learning for expert-level careers after graduation

Alongside international internships, DTU students also have opportunities to learn directly from experts and engage with industry professionals on campus.

The Blue Rock Cybersecurity Talent Incubation Program was jointly launched in 2023 by DTU, Suganuma Group Joint Stock Company, and Fore Joint Stock Company. Forty third- and fourth-year students majoring in Network Engineering and Cybersecurity were selected for its inaugural cohort. In subsequent years, many students participating in the program have been recruited by the two companies and offered well-paid positions.

Blue Rock is a one-year program comprising an initial knowledge assessment, reinforcement of foundational knowledge, and intensive training in offensive and defensive network security skills. Students are also given opportunities to participate in annual international Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions and subsequently contribute to real-world projects provided by Fore. Participants receive between USD 400 and USD 800 per month for six months. After this stage, Fore selects students who demonstrate the required capabilities, offers them professional-level salaries, and provides them with opportunities to work either in Japan or at Japanese companies in Vietnam.

To help students pursue specialized studies and gain early exposure to real-world work, Suganuma Joint Stock Company and Fore Joint Stock Company donated a Cybersecurity Laboratory to DTU. Located on the DTU campus, the laboratory is equipped with 20 high-performance laptops, specialized software, a powerful server, and a wide range of modern networking devices to support Cybersecurity research, practice, and training.

127 students undertake internships in Japan through the “Japan Internship Program”

Paid internship opportunities at DTU have also been extended to students in many other fields through the Japan Internship Program, jointly organized by DTU’s Vietnam–Japan Institute of Engineering and Technology (VJIET) and the Japan Internship Support Association (JISA).

The Japan Internship Program offers 12-month internships in Japan to students from a wide range of disciplines, including:

- Nursing and Pharmacy;
- Graphic Design;
- Japanese language and English language;
- Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering;
- Food Technology;
- Information Technology; and
- Civil Engineering and Architecture.

 
DTU students can earn up to 16 practical-training credits when undertaking internships relevant to their majors. They also receive free Japanese-language training before and after their departure, as well as financial support for application procedures, visas, round-trip airfare, accommodation, and living expenses. Monthly allowances start at JPY 70,000, equivalent to approximately VND 14 million.

Many DTU students are currently undertaking internships at major companies and organizations in Japan, including:

- Tran Ngoc Anh Thu, a Pharmacy student, at Yaestubaki Joint Stock Company;
- Nguyen Nhac Hung and Ngo Thanh Dat, students of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, at Yokohama Kyoritsu;
- Pham The Manh, Mai Thi Thu Huyen, Nguyen Xuan Nam, and Le Thi Phuong Uyen, Japanese Language students, at Mikazuki Hotel;
- Pham Duy Kien, a CSU Architecture student, at Heisei;
- Ho Le Tuan Minh, a Dentistry student, at Arcadia Okurayama Dental Clinic;
- Phan Thi Trang, a Nursing student, at Otorikai Medical Group;
- Nguyen Thi Tram Anh, a Nursing student, at Otorikai Medical Group; and
- Van Dinh Tam Dan, a Multimedia Communications student, at IHS Joint Stock Company (Omoide Romankan).

My lecturers at DTU have equipped me with extensive knowledge and many essential skills. I sincerely hope that this journey to Japan will enable me to learn more about professional working practices, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility at work,” said Tran Ngoc Anh Thu, a Pharmacy student currently undertaking an internship at Yaestubaki Joint Stock Company.

While “thousands of dollars” may sound impressive, professional competence is what delivers lasting value. Behind these attractive internship earnings lies an even greater opportunity: DTU students can enter professional working environments while still at university, develop practical skills, and gradually cultivate the mindset and work habits required in international workplaces. These experiences give them a significant competitive advantage as they enter the global labor market.
