ABET-Accredited programs

The Construction Engineering Technology program at DTU was officially accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) of ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, USA) on August 28, 2025, for the maximum period of six years.

This milestone further highlights the effectiveness of DTU’s long-term strategic initiatives, including early collaborations to implement the first Advanced programs in Architecture and Construction in Central Vietnam over a decade ago. These programs provide students with access to curricula transferred from U.S. universities, as well as opportunities to study directly with lecturers from renowned institutions such as California State University and Cal Poly.

Notably in the field of Architecture, visiting lecturer Dr. Architect Tran Gia Viet My from the University of Hawaii (USA) frequently visits DTU to provide guidance in Capstone projects and shared practical professional experience. His involvement helped students turn their ideas into reality and prepare them for real-world application. Many student projects have made a strong impression.

Graduation projects of Architecture students in the United States are evaluated based on their ability to integrate multiple elements, including design thinking, contextual research, spatial organization, architectural solutions, basic structural and material systems, as well as presentation and argumentative skills. From the moment I began teaching and supervising course projects at DTU, I have applied these criteria to help students approach and adapt to the highest standards of architectural education worldwide. In practice, DTU students have adapted very quickly and have effectively acquired new knowledge and skills within a short period of time. This demonstrates the great potential of young students when they are placed within a clear and rigorous academic framework,” Dr. Architect Tran Gia Viet My shared.

Hands-on practice in Japan-supported SkillsLab

In mid-2024, DTU inaugurated a new laboratory equipped with 40 high-performance computers under the “Heisei - VJIET SkillsLab” project, sponsored by Heisei Joint Stock Company (Japan). This initiative enables students to master specialized design software, enhance professional competencies, and experience advanced Japanese technologies in Architecture and Construction through both regular and extended internship programs coordinated by the Vietnam-Japan Institute of Engineering and Technology (VJIET).

Students also benefit from hands-on access to modern surveying equipment, including GNSS Trimble systems, total stations, and automatic levels, as well as specialized laboratories in Materials, Mechanics & Hydraulics, and Construction Inspection, featuring advanced tools for ultrasonic testing, crack detection, and displacement measurement.

Additionally, Building Information Modeling (BIM) is implemented on digital platforms and integrated with related fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Electrical & Electronics, Water Supply and Drainage, Environmental Protection, and Interior Design, creating a distinctive training advantage for DTU students.

Conquering Academic competitions

With creative thinking and a strong academic foundation, DTU Architecture and Construction students have produced numerous outstanding designs and consistently achieved remarkable success in both national and international competitions.
Notably, DTU students once again secured First prize at the IDEERS - Earthquake-Resistant Design Competition in the Asia-Pacific region in 2023, continuing their winning streak since 2014. This prestigious competition attracts leading Asian universities, including Nanyang Technological University (NTU - Singapore), Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST - China), Pusan National University (South Korea), National Taiwan University, Pukyong National University (South Korea), and more.

DTU students have also won 30 awards at National Architecture Festivals, along with numerous accolades in competitions such as Sao Bien, the “Brilliant Poland” watercolor contest, the “Hanoi - A Thousand Years of Civilization” watercolor competition (2024), and Spring Flower Street and Lighting Design contests.

DTU students of Civil Engineering won Second prize at the Loa Thanh Awards 2024, the highest award in the Engineering & Technology category (no First prize was awarded).

The Medical - educational Complex and Premium Apartment Project was developed based on a preliminary architectural plan by the Da Nang Urban Planning Institute for an area of approximately 21,311 m² site.

DTU students have received a total of 20 Loa Thanh Awards over the years, including the only First Prize nationwide in 2010.

Additionally, Nguyen Ngoc Han, a DTU student of Construction Engineering, was honored with the Vietnam Women in Science and Technology Award 2025, presented by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology. In a field traditionally considered male-dominated, Ngoc Han has distinguished herself through outstanding academic achievements, representing a dynamic female student who actively spreads passion and inspiration for scientific research.

DTU also regularly organizes various academic contests, including the “O Thuoc Bridge Building Competition” hosted by the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Using simple materials such as paper straws, glue, rulers, and scissors, teams construct creative and aesthetically balanced bridge models with practical feasibility.

These internationally recognized achievements reflect the persistent efforts of DTU lecturers and students, strengthening trust from industry partners. As a result, DTU Architecture and Construction graduates consistently achieve a 100% employment rate after graduation, contributing significantly to the development of high-quality human resources in Vietnam’s construction sector.
