Admiration for a Disabled Female DTU Student
Hoài Trang, a DTU final year female student from Danang, is unable to walk like her friends. She has tried her best to overcome her difficulties and prove herself academically. Ms. Trang is a student in the K15TPM class at DTU. She has always had an excellent record. After interning for two months at the DiCentral Company in the Danang Software Park, Trang has just been offered a job there and, when she graduates, she will begin full-time work there.
Learning is her passion. Since she was young she was always ranked in the top five for twelve years in a row. At DTU, she is one of the best students in her class. She said: “When I was a little girl, I dreamt of being a teacher and, at other times, I wanted to become an architect. Before going to university, my parents advised me to study IT because it suited my physical condition. I gradually found it to be a very interesting program, which I studied with a deep passion.”

She has found it difficult to find appropriate study materials as she is unable to walk by herself. However, she has tried her best to overcome such obstacles. She said: “There are a lot of good websites for me to research special topics. We must improve our English in order to understand this information". She can’t afford extra English courses, so she has learnt by herself and scored 450 points in the TOEIC test and her knowledge of English has helped her learn more.
She is very optimistic about her current situation and said: "I know I have had to try much harder than my peers to do well. In return, I have received great encouragement from my teachers and friends, which given me the strength to overcome the difficulties in my studies and my life in general. I remember when I entered university, and the Provost promised me free tuition if I did well academically. I think I am lucky, I am very happy. I receive so much love, consideration and care from my parents, teachers and friends.”
