A Series of Events: Network Conference and MOU Signings Elevate Legal Education at DTU
More than 70 Law schools and Legal education institutions nationwide participated in the 2026 Annual Conference of the Vietnam Law Schools Network (VLSN), held at DTU on March 20, 2026. Right after the conference, the Legal Career Day 2026 featured a wide range of networking activities and the signing of multiple Memoranda of Understandings (MOUs) between universities and enterprises, opening up opportunities for deeper collaboration, strengthened the linkage between education and practice, and contributed to enhancing the quality of the future legal workforce.

At the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Duc Luong, Provost of the University of Law, Hue University and Chair of the Organizing Committee, said: “Legal education in recent years has made significant progress. Training programs have gradually been modernized to align with regional and international standards, while scientific research and international cooperation have been increasingly enhanced. However, legal education still faces several challenges that require further improvement. Therefore, an academic forum like this is essential for institutions to exchange expertise, identify difficulties, and propose solutions for legal education in Vietnam today.”
Numerous in-depth presentations and discussions were delivered in a constructive and open spirit. In addition to improving faculty capacity and teaching methods, participants highlighted the importance of outcome standards aligned with professional competencies, as well as stronger connections between universities, judicial agencies, law firms, and businesses. Quality accreditation was also identified as a key focus to ensure standardization, transparency, and continuous improvement in the reputation and quality of Legal education institutions.

and former Director General of the Higher Education Department under the Ministry of Education and Training
Lawyer and Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung stated: “Law plays a crucial role in guiding social development. Therefore, the 2025 Higher Education Law identifies legal education as one of three priority disciplines, requiring program approval by authorities, mandatory accreditation, and minimum admission quality standards. Comprehensive accreditation of Law programs not only promotes continuous internal improvement but also enhances transparency and accountability through feedback from external experts and reviewers.
As Vietnam’s accreditation standards increasingly align with AUN-QA benchmarks, accrediting Law programs will facilitate international integration, mutual recognition of degrees, and elevate the global standing of Vietnam’s legal education. The Law Schools Network serves as an effective platform for institutions to collaborate, develop shared learning resources, establish strong research groups, contribute to policy development, and build a team of specialized accreditors to improve training quality.”
With the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Legal education must continuously innovate its curricula, teaching methods, and learning outcomes. This ensures that students are equipped not only with solid legal knowledge but also with technological proficiency, data analysis skills, and adaptability in an increasingly digital professional environment.
From a practical training perspective, Dr. Ho Minh Khanh, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the DTU School of Languages, Humanities & Social Sciences (LHSS), DTU, shared: “AI offers many opportunities to support legal work, from legal research to document drafting, making tasks faster and more efficient. However, for those aiming to become lawyers, especially in consultancy or litigation, practical experience remains essential, participating in real cases and court proceedings. Therefore, in Legal education, AI should be seen as a supporting tool. To truly succeed, students must combine foundational knowledge, practical skills, sharp thinking, and real-world experience.”

One of the most important priorities is strengthening collaboration between universities and enterprises. This serves as a vital bridge connecting education with practice, enabling students to access professional environments early while allowing institutions to adjust their curricula to meet labor market demands.
