DTU Named Microsoft Elevate Showcase School for 2026-2027

From applying AI in teaching and learning to innovating administrative practices, the Vietnam Education Innovation Recognition Fair 2026-2027, held at Duy Tan University (DTU) on October 25, 2026, provided an opportunity for educators, schools, and technology companies to share experience and explore solutions for integrating technology into educational practice. DTU was recognized by Microsoft as a Microsoft Elevate Showcase School, acknowledging its efforts to innovate training, develop digital competencies, and apply technology to administration.

AI in education: Technology supports, teachers remain central

For 2026-2027, Microsoft Elevate named 37 Microsoft Elevate Showcase Schools and more than 4,300 Microsoft Elevate Educator Experts worldwide. Behind this milestone lie the durable efforts of education institutions and educators to innovate teaching methods, develop digital competencies, and bring creative ideas into classroom practice.

As part of the festival, an education & technology exhibition brought together technology companies and schools to showcase products and solutions for teaching, learning, and education management. Attendees could explore technology application models and exchange experiences in implementing them at their institutions. They could experience virtual-reality headsets firsthand and design teaching activities on interactive screens. This let them explore how technology can be used in the organization of learning experiences that suit classroom practices.

“AI is developing very rapidly and can take on more and more tasks, including some traditionally associated with teaching,” DTU Provost Dr. Le Nguyen Bao explained. “However, the goal of education is not just knowledge and lessons, but the formation and development of a human being. If we view education only through the lens of what machines can accomplish, we’ll overlook the human values that are the foundation of the teaching profession: understanding, the ability to inspire, love, and responsibility toward learners. AI can become a powerful assistant that allows educators to innovate their teaching methods, personalize learning, and improve training. To affirm their continued relevance, educators must therefore constantly learn, master technology, and effectively combine their professional expertise and pedagogical skills with new tools.”

The seminar with theme “Bring Your Class to Our Class - Share Your Practice, Inspire Every Classroom” was designed following a learning community model that places participants at the center. It featured three dedicated spaces: LEAD (leading change), TEACH (responsive teaching), and CREATE (student creation). Besides listening to stories and practical experiences from classrooms and schools, participants also exchanged ideas, asked questions, debated, and shared their own perspectives. It was this interaction and joint creativity that led to distinctive value and ensured that participants left not only with new knowledge but also with practical insights they could apply and further develop in education innovation at their respective institutions.

DTU promotes digital transformation in education and administration

The academic year 2026-2027 marks the first time DTU has been named a Microsoft Elevate Showcase School, acknowledging its efforts to innovate education, develop digital competencies, and apply technology to training and administration.

its efforts to innovate education, develop digital competencies, and apply technology to training and administration

One of the foundations of DTU’s digital transformation is the integrated technology ecosystem that the university developed for proactive mastery of technology and customization to operational needs. It covers multiple stages of the student journey, from admissions, enrollment, training, learning, and examinations to finding jobs. In this ecosystem, the Academic Management System (AMS) counts more than twenty modules and over 300 functions, while the myDTU e-learning platform offers more than thirty modules and 160 functions and integrates a digital library with over a hundred thousand titles. These services are connected through single sign-on (SSO), giving users easier access to academic systems and digital resources.

Alongside its digital infrastructure, DTU focuses on enhancing its lecturers’ ability to use AI. Since January 2025, the university has provided training in generative AI and Microsoft 365 Copilot for teaching, scientific research, and student support. It has established a core team of 120 experts and organized training for 970 lecturers. The university’s regular AI Sharing Friday provides a space where lecturers can exchange experiences, share solutions, and discuss scenarios involving the practical application of technology.

The fair allowed educators, educational institutions, and technology companies to connect

Since 2024, DTU has pursued an AI transformation roadmap, beginning with the selection of Microsoft 365 and AI as foundations. By January 2025, training programs in generative AI and Microsoft Copilot had been implemented and a core team of 120 experts was in place. In 2026, this was taken further with the establishment of an AI Steering Committee, plans to introduce mandatory AI credits, and the development of a strategy to become an “AI university”.

Results show that weekly Copilot usage at DTU increased from 12% at the beginning of the quarter to 82% in the second quarter of 2025. Besides the creation of 570 lectures, tools such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Forms, and Microsoft 365 Copilot have been put to use in classroom organization, assignments, feedback, and scientific research. This demonstrates how DTU’s digital transformation is progressing on two fronts simultaneously: developing technological systems for university operations and enhancing lecturers’ ability to use technology.

These implementation steps demonstrate that technology adoption goes beyond the use of individual tools. It is part of a strategic roadmap closely integrated with training and administration. This also provides a foundation for the university to further expand its AI capabilities, support lecturers in innovating their teaching methods, and create more opportunities for students to develop creativity, independent thinking, and the ability to adapt to the digital environment.

DTU joined InterEdu and the Sky-Line education system in co-hosting the event in Danang, providing educators, schools, and technology organizations with a space to connect. From experiences that were shared to solutions that were introduced, every interaction had the potential to spark a new idea or inspire a more effective teaching approach, fostering creativity and driving positive change in schools.
