opening a new chapter of cooperation in training, scientific research, and innovation
Universitas Islam Indonesia, headquartered in Yogyakarta, is Indonesia’s oldest private university. It has established strengths in academic development, research, and international cooperation. It is a long-term member of the Passage to ASEAN (P2A) network and is one of DTU’s active partners in academic exchange and student connections throughout the region.
“The signing of this MoU today is the next step in the steadily developing relationship between Duy Tan University and Universitas Islam Indonesia,” UII Rector Prof. Hari Purnomo stated at the signing ceremony. “It opens up many new opportunities for cooperation between our two institutions. The true value of this agreement lies not only in what’s been formally documented but, more importantly, in the programs we’ll jointly implement and the tangible benefits it’ll bring to our students, lecturers, and academic communities. On behalf of Universitas Islam Indonesia, I’d like to express my sincere gratitude for Duy Tan University’s trust, friendship, and partnership. We really wish to further strengthen our cooperation and create meaningful opportunities that benefit both our universities and future generations.”

The MoU will foster an open academic environment, stronger connections,
and international integration among lecturers and students at both universities
Building on their established partnership, this MoU provides a framework for deeper and broader cooperation between DTU and Universitas Islam Indonesia in training, research, and higher-education development. Under the agreement, the two institutions will promote the development and implementation of joint training programs and give students additional opportunities to participate in curricula with international elements, exchange, and experience the educational environments of both countries. Lecturer and student exchange will also be a priority, encouraging the sharing of teaching experience and learning methodologies while expanding cultural exchange and connections in the academic community.
In addition, DTU and Universitas Islam Indonesia will explore collaborative initiatives to improve the quality of higher education, leverage each institution’s strengths, and contribute to the broader development of the ASEAN education network. Through these initiatives, the MoU will not only create opportunities for bilateral cooperation but also foster an open academic environment, stronger connections, and international integration among lecturers and students at both universities.
“DTU and Universitas Islam Indonesia have a longstanding partnership, particularly through the Passage to ASEAN network or P2A,” DTU Vice Provost Dr. Le Nguyen Tue Hang emphasized. “Having worked together to develop P2A into a community of more than 150 higher-education institutions across ASEAN, including 30 members from Indonesia, our two institutions have promoted academic exchanges and strengthened ties among educational systems in the region. We respect Universitas Islam Indonesia’s contributions and are confident that our partnership will continue to develop the dynamic and open higher-education community in ASEAN.”
