DTU and Series of Strategic AI Partnerships in China

Traveling to China in mid-April 2026, DTU was honored to be part of the Vietnamese delegation at the Vietnam-China Forum on Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation Cooperation held at Tsinghua University. During the visit, DTU implemented a series of strategic partnerships in AI and digital technology with various Chinese companies and universities.

DTU honored to join Vietnamese delegation

As part of the Vietnamese delegation, DTU Provost Dr Le Nguyen Bao, along with staff and lecturers of the university, participated in and implemented many practical collaborations aimed at realizing new models of education & research in the AI era. With the theme “Collaboration in research & innovation between Vietnamese universities and Chinese tech corporations: From technology adoption to co-creation of knowledge and digital-talent ecosystems”, these models have entered the stage of concrete collaboration:

-    with Alibaba Cloud: integrating AI education with real-world cloud-computing infrastructure;
-    with Chengdu Minto Technology: building joint AI-agent laboratories and developing AI-agent systems to support teaching and university administration;
-    with UBTech: developing an AI & robotics ecosystem and bringing AI from theory into practice environments integrated with interactive robots;
-    with KMAX: DTU transferred its applied and 3D-simulation products in medicine, education, tourism, and aviation services into KMAX’s virtual-reality ecosystem for training.

DTU identifies the AI + Discipline model as the most effective pathway to narrowing the technology gap in education & research. By integrating AI across fields - from tourism and languages to management and services - the university aims not only to equip students with technological knowledge but also to teach them adaptability and to co-create with partners in Vietnam and abroad. DTU’s collaboration model focuses not only on reciprocal technology transfer, but also on jointly shaping the future of knowledge.

Building AI & robotics education & research ecosystem

Committed to high-quality education of international standards and to empowering students to master technology and adapt rapidly in the AI era, DTU strengthened its partnerships with Chinese partners during the visit:

DTU signed a tripartite strategic cooperation agreement with UBTech Robotics and IPPTech

- Building an AI center with UBTech & IPPTech: This three-pillar collaboration will establish a most modern robotics research & practice center in Central Vietnam. UBTech, one of China’s two leaders in humanoid robots (alongside Unitree), will provide comprehensive educational solutions and general software development kits for humanoid training, while DTU will take the lead in academic development and hands-on curriculum design, with support from IPP technology & education LLC (IPPTech) in Vietnam.

Technology transfer to Chinese partner

On April 15, 2026, DTU signed an official agreement at the headquarters Jiangxi KMAX Industrial Co. Ltd. to transfer the AnatomyNow system (a 3D human anatomy application) to KMAX (China).

AnatomyNow is a 3D virtual-reality product that provides detailed and complete simulations of the human skeletal, muscular, circulatory, nervous, digestive, and cardiovascular systems. It features nearly four thousand complex anatomical details. The application runs on multiple hardware platforms, from desktop and web to mobile, and allows interaction in 3D virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) using Meta Quest headsets.

DTU agreed to transfer AnatomyNow to KMAX

KMAX will serve as the official global marketing and distribution partner for DTU through its ecosystem of 3D virtual-reality applications. Revenue generated from this product will be reinvested by DTU into the development of new VR and 3D-simulation applications for training. Through the partnership, DTU students in health sciences and in technology will also gain privileged access to KMAX’s modern glasses-free 3D interactive devices and AI-powered laptops.

Beyond commercial collaboration, this technology transfer to a major corporation further affirms DTU’s capability to develop scientific products with practical applications and successfully market them internationally.

Comprehensive collaboration with Tianjin University

At the Vietnam - China Forum on Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation Cooperation, DTU and Tianjin University (TJU) signed a memorandum of agreement for a wide range of collaborative initiatives in education, research, and technology. Founded in 1895, Tianjin University was the first university in China and is currently ranked among the country’s most prestigious institutions. It is placed 12th of China in both the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University Rankings and the THE (Times Higher Education) World University Rankings.

DTU and TJU signed a strategic partnership

DTU and TJU have agreed to:

•    launch a 3+1 joint program and student exchange for the major in Chinese Language;
•    collaborate on undergraduate and graduate training, and establish joint research groups in AI and in cybersecurity;
•    work towards co-organizing the annual Vietnam–China Forum on AI Applications;
•    promote lecturer and student exchange, and jointly fund research projects by students and lecturers in key engineering fields, such as automation, architecture, construction, and green development;
•    develop and integrate advanced AI into training for medicine, tourism, Chinese language, and aviation services, enabling students to master different tools and confidently enter the labor market.

Toward “Smart Campus” to optimize learning experience

Through this series of partnerships and agreements, DTU is steadily moving toward completing its “Smart Campus” model. Lecturers and students will be supported by personalized AI assistants and agents: from course management, enrollment, and automating delivery of core and supplementary learning resources to carrying out specific projects with AI support and interacting with other students, lecturers, and AI agents in virtual environments.
