From Managing Emotions to Shaping the Future: Toolkit for Maturity at DTU
Emotions influence not only how we think and act but also how we face challenges in studies and everyday life. Learning to recognize, understand, and manage emotions is the key for young people to develop self-control, build positive relationships, and develop comprehensively.

Psychology expert Dr. To Nhi A at DTU’s psychology & education talk series
With a commitment to supporting students as they explore themselves, develop life skills, and strengthen their abilities, Duy Tan University (DTU) organized a series of psychology & education talks on October 15 and 16, 2026, with psychology expert Dr. To Nhi A. The program was held in collaboration with senior high schools in Danang.
Positive emotion management: Understanding for self-control
Designed for students at VJIS and Son Tra senior high in Danang, the talk “Positive emotion management” offered a variety of engaging experiences under the guidance of Dr. To Nhi A. Through interesting and thought-provoking scenarios, she energized the audience with questions that stimulated the thinking, emotions, and imagination of the adolescents. The atmosphere grew increasingly lively as the students enthusiastically and confidently shared their perspectives, expressed their thoughts, and explained issues from their own points of view.

This approach lets students train their critical thinking, consider issues from multiple perspectives, and understand that different people may go through different emotions and responses in the same situation. Dr. To Nhi A then helped them gain a deeper understanding of the nature of emotions, learn to recognize emotions through signals from the body, and explore the needs hidden behind psychological states. When understanding underlying causes, one can better regulate one’s reactions, assess issues calmly, and choose appropriate responses. These skills are important to build resilience for the changes of adolescence, academic pressures, and relationships with others.
First shock, first growth
As part of the same psychology & education initiative, DTU also organized a session for first-year students titled “First shock, first growth” to help them take charge of their four-year university journey.

The talk equipped students with the skills necessary to confidently embark
on new journeys, grow through experience, and gradually shape their futures
Through relatable and engaging stories and scenarios, Dr. To Nhi A shared practical advice on adapting to a new environment, proactively developing personal capabilities, recognizing social pitfalls, and responding calmly to situations one may encounter in life.
To achieve this, students need to proactively establish appropriate study habits and daily routines, consistently practice what they have learned, set clear goals, and understand what they truly want. More importantly, one needs to learn considering different perspectives, choosing solutions that are within one’s capabilities, and turning conflicts into opportunities to learn and gain experience. From understanding one’s emotions to learning how to adapt to conflict, every experience helps young people gain a deeper understanding of themselves, become more resilient, and be more proactive with their personal development.
Through its psychology & education talk series, DTU reaffirms its commitment to holistic education, emphasizing not only specialized knowledge but also students’ mental well-being, life skills, and adaptability. This equips students with the skills necessary to confidently embark on new journeys, grow through experience, and gradually shape their futures.
