Penn State University Faculty Teach at DTU
The DTU Hospitality & Tourism Department invited two instructors from Penn State University in America, Mr. George Ruth and Mr. Jeff Heim to teach at DTU from August 4th to 24th. They provided the latest information on hospitality and tourism. During the course, DTU students learned much about three special topics, namely Hotel Management, an Introduction to Restaurant Management and Food Safety and Hygiene.


Mr. Jeff Heim said:“The PSU academic program has been
developing very effectively at DTU. Many Penn State faculty members have
visited DTU to teach in Hospitality and Tourism. We know that DTU in
collaborating with many local hotels which will definitely enhance the
education here. But you need to tell stories. You can’t just lecture and
lecture. You will lose your students if you don’t tell them about your
practical experiences to keep them engaged. DTU students are great. They are
motivated and want to learn. I think they will be very successful in the
future”.
Hospitality & Tourism lecturers were also taught the four transfer disciplines by George Ruth and Jeff Heim. Mr. Nguyen Cong Minh, Dean of DTU Hospitality and Tourism said: “We greatly benefited from the course with such experienced Penn State University lecturers across the four transfer disciplines of Restaurant Management, Introduction to Food Production and Service, Hospitality Managerial Accounting and Hotel Management. We believe that such training courses will help improve the educational quality of the DTU Hospitality and Tourism Department in the future”.
