With this addition to the six technology & engineering programs that had previously earned ABET accreditation, DTU becomes the university with most ABET-accredited programs in Vietnam.

Control Engineering & Automation earns ABET accreditation, bringing DTU’s total to seven ABET-accredited programs

DTU’s ABET-accredited programs now are:

    Control Engineering & Automation, accredited in 2026,
    Network Engineering, accredited in 2019 and 2025,
    Management Information Systems, accredited in 2019 and 2025,
    Electrical & Electronic Engineering, accredited in 2020 and 2026,
    Software Engineering, accredited in 2021 and 2026,
    Food Technology, accredited in 2025, and
    Construction Engineering Technology, accredited in 2025.

With a 4.5-year curriculum, students in Control Engineering & Automation receive in-depth training and conduct research in key areas such as:

    programmable logic controllers (PLC) and SCADA systems,
    embedded systems and microcontroller programming,
    industrial robotics and electric drives,
    sensors and instrumentation, and
    automatic control and electronic systems.

With five specialized laboratories for hands-on practice fully equipped with machinery from leading brands such as Tektronix, Keysight, Siemens, and Agilent, along with extensive digital resources through the DTU Digital Library with direct access to IEEE Xplore, SpringerLink, and ProQuest Central, DTU students and lecturers are supported in implementing a wide range of academic and practical capstone projects, including:

    automated shrimp-sorting machine in collaboration with Thuan Phuoc seafood JSC,
    automated chemical weighing and measuring system for Danang rubber JSC,
    water-environment monitoring station using a Siemens S7-1200 PLC to optimize aquaculture,
    wastewater treatment system designed for Rach Gia,
    size-based product-sorting and packaging system, and
    hotel delivery robot.

Second-cycle ABET reaccreditation for Software Engineering and Electrical & Electronic Engineering

Besides the program in Control Engineering & Automation, which earned ABET accreditation in 2026, the programs in Software Engineering and Electrical & Electronic Engineering were reaccredited in the same year.

At their core, these programs are built around the CDIO model (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate), with capstone projects closely connected to real-world issues.

❖ DTU students of Software Engineering study with a curriculum optimized around the standard software-development life cycle (SDLC) used in the industry.

In addition to mastering modern programming languages, students also master knowledge of software architecture, agile/scrum project management, cloud-computing system design, big-data analytics, and in particular the integration of GenAI and next-generation AI tools into software development.

❖ DTU students of Electrical & Electronic Engineering are trained to analyze and design hardware and software for complex electronic systems, such as designing and simulating advanced electronic circuit using Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD, and Proteus; embedded programming with C/C++ and Python; hardware design using VHDL on FPGA chips; modern telecommunications and wireless communications (5G, LoRaWAN), digital signal processing (DSP), and computer vision.

Their training enables them to design a wide range of smart technology products for the community, such as a device assisting people with hearing impairments with communication in coffee shops incorporating Mesh IoT; a smart cane equipped with GPS and ultrasonic sensors to help people with visual impairments navigate safely; and in-depth research into balancing algorithms for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Career opportunities with companies in world’s top 300+

Its results in training, research, and industry collaboration have helped affirm DTU’s position in international university rankings, particularly in engineering & technology:

    144th in computer science & information systems in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026,
    in the world’s 301-400 range in engineering & technology in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, and 346th in engineering & technology in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026.

This has enabled the DTU School of Computer Science & AI (SCA), School of Engineering & Technology, and International School (VN-US) to collaborate with major domestic and international corporations and companies, such as KuKa Group, Foster Electric, Mabuchi Motor, Foxlink, Renesas, FPT software, LG electronics, Canon, and Luxshare ICT Nghe An. This provides students with opportunities for orientation, production, and graduation internships.

“ABET accreditation is more than an important milestone for DTU,” says Dr. Nguyen Duc Man, Vice Dean of the DTU International School. “It also demonstrates DTU’s strong commitment to improving educational quality in accordance with international standards.

“With ABET accreditation, degrees are recognized globally, giving graduates an advantage in recognition of qualifications and equivalency evaluation as they apply to multinational corporations or pursue higher degrees in America or Europe.”

Regarded as the gold standard for engineering & technology accreditation, ABET has accredited programs at many prestigious universities worldwide, including world-famous engineering institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, US), the University of Applied Sciences (Austria), the University of California Berkeley (UCB, US), Mody University of Science & Technology (India), Carnegie Mellon University (CMU, US), Purdue University (US), Johns Hopkins University (US), Duke University (US), and AMA University (Philippines).

Currently, ABET has accredited 4,773 programs at 930 universities and colleges across 42 countries. More than 200 thousand students graduate from ABET-accredited programs each year, and millions of graduates have earned degrees from ABET-accredited programs since 1932.
