Two DTU Students Win Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Scholarship

With outstanding academic achievements and exceptional foreign language proficiency, Ho Thanh Phong, majoring in Business Administration, and Nguyen Pham Thanh Tuyen, majoring in International Relations at DTU, have been awarded the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo (CMK) Scholarship from South Korea.

 

The two students will travel to South Korea to study for one year at Yonsei University and Seoul National University (SNU).


The scholarship program was launched after the CMK Foundation signed cooperation agreements with three Vietnamese universities, including: Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, and DTU  to jointly implement the Chung Mong-Koo Global Scholarship Program in Vietnam, beginning on December 19, 2024. Starting in 2025, the foundation will select 15 students from the three universities to support them in studying at top universities in South Korea.

 

Each Chung Mong-Koo Scholarship is valued at 25 million Won (over 420 million VND) and includes: 

 

-    Full tuition fees (for two full-time semesters and one annual winter program), 
-    1 million Won monthly living expenses, and 
-    2.5 million Won for settling-in support.


Scholarship recipients must complete at least 2 semesters at their current university in fields such as Business Administration & Economics, Future Industries, Korean Studies, or Public Policy & Development.

 

Ho Thanh Phong: Achieving IELTS 8.0 with a dream to become a Lecturer of Business Administration 


With an impressive IELTS score of 8.0, outstanding academic achievements, and a constant enthusiasm for participating in various extracurricular activities, Ho Thanh Phong, a DTU fourth-year Business Administration student, has been awarded the CMK Scholarship for his favorite field of study at Yonsei University (South Korea).

Ho Thanh Phong dreams to become a Lecturer of Business Administration 

 

Thanh Phong is a friendly, humorous young man with an admirable level of English proficiency. Also, he has gained f several impressive achievements, including:


-    First prize in the 2023 DTU Students with ERPsim Game, 
-    Second prize in the 2022 DTU Business Ideas Competition, 
-    Third prize in the 2023 Social Venture Plan, 
-    Third prize in the 2022 Da Nang City English Olympic, 
-    Top 5 Nationally in the 2023 Vietnam ERPsim Student Competition,
-    The 2024 DTU Student Ambassador. 

 

In addition, Thanh Phong has a great passion for both domestic and international literature. Despite his busy schedule with classes and extracurricular activities, he still finds time to read over 30 novels each year to continuously expand his knowledge and enrich his soul.


Thanh Phong shares: "When I read about this scholarship on DTU's fanpage and received detailed guidance from DTU lecturers of Business Administration, I prepared all the necessary documents to apply for it. The lecturers not only helped me improve my essay-writing skills but also provided me with some interviewing skills, which made me feel much more confident. With the determination to 'go and come back,' I hope to accumulate enough knowledge, skills, and experience so that when I return to DTU one day, I will become a lecturer of Business Administration like the lecturers I admire greatly."

 

Nguyen Pham Thanh Tuyen: striving to win the CMK Scholarship


As a DTU third-year International Relations student, Nguyen Pham Thanh Tuyen stands out with her excellent academic ability and passion for international affairs. Her enthusiasm for following global events not only helps her broaden her perspective but also shapes her future career path.

Nguyen Pham Thanh Tuyen


Her passion for international news was the driving force behind her decision to choose the International Relations major at DTU. Thanh Tuyen shared, "I regularly watch domestic and international news, and I have realized that understanding the political, diplomatic, economic, and cultural issues of countries helps me develop strong analytical and critical thinking skills, preparing me for my future career journey. I was fortunate to receive a full scholarship covering 100% of the tuition fees for the International Relations program from the very first days at the university. I have continually strived to maintain excellent academic results. Now, I am even more excited to receive the CMK Scholarship. This valuable scholarship is a motivation for me to keep enhancing my abilities, explore new learning opportunities, and be ready to step out into the world."

 

"DTU lecturers are very enthusiastic and always support me in both my studies and life. It is also here that I have had the opportunity to connect with friends from various regions and disciplines. Over the past three years, we have shared both joyful and challenging moments. These diverse friendships have enriched my student life, helping me grow in understanding and, most importantly, develop my communication skills. From here, I feel more confident in taking on the challenges ahead," Thanh Tuyen shared.


After thorough preparation, Thanh Tuyen successfully completed her essay, met the requirements to advance to the interview round and received the CMK Scholarship, heading to South Korea to study International Relations at Seoul National University.
