2024: The Year of First-place Wins for DTU Students

The year 2024 marks a milestone for students of DTU, as they achieved numerous first-place prizes in academic competitions both nationally and internationally, spanning a wide range of disciplines and fields of study.

These accomplishments reaffirm DTU's leading position in training highly qualified professionals who are ready to integrate into the global community and contribute positively to societal development.

 

Maintaining Top position

 

Renowned for its strengths in Information Technology (IT) education and a team of highly skilled IT experts, DTU continues to cultivate an exceptional learning environment where IT students can freely bring their boldest ideas to life. 


The remarkable capabilities of DTU’s IT students have been solidified and elevated to new heights with outstanding achievements in 2024, including:

 

Special, First, Second prize, and the Creative Idea Award at the national "ROBOG 2024" competition held on September 22, 2024. DTU’s team will represent Vietnam in the world finals, set to take place in February 2025 in China.

 

This prestigious competition focuses on programming, robotic technology development, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). It attracts participation from students at leading universities across the country, known for their strengths in IT training, as well as robotics research and development.

 

DTU students secured first place at the "Innovation Tech Challenge 2024," held by Samsung Vietnam in collaboration with the Junior Achievement Organization on August 29, 2024. This marks the second consecutive victory for DTU students at this competition, following their first and second-place wins in 2023.

 

DTU students also claimed first place in the Open Source Software category at the 33rd Vietnamese Student Informatics Olympiad held on December 13, 2024.

 

One standout achievement was the development of the Green Hope application by DTU students. This innovative app integrates Blockchain technology to ensure transparency in disaster relief donations and leverages AI to analyze videos for supporting rescue efforts and locating individuals in distress.

Outstanding Game design achievements

 

This year, two DTU female students excelled at the “National Game Design and Graphic Talent Search 2024” competition, earning first and second place in Game Graphic Design. The competition was held in collaboration with the Korean Embassy, the Korea Tourism Organization, Jeju Air, Vietnam National University Hanoi, and several other organizations.

The "The Flavors' Odyssey" game, which won first prize by student Ngo Thi Phuong Thao, was inspired by the cultural fusion of Korean and Vietnamese cuisine. The game centers around kimchi and the journey to preserve balance in the world of gastronomy.

The "Active Prosthetic Limb" product, recently developed by DTU students, carries a profoundly meaningful goal: providing Vietnamese individuals with disabilities access to a high-quality product at an affordable cost.

The feasibility features of the "Active Prosthetic Limb" by DTU FLEXILEG team, enabled them to outperform 29 teams from across the ASEAN region. Their outstanding performance secured them first place at the ASEAN Green Entrepreneurship Hackathon 2024.

 

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Duong, Vice - Rector of the DTU School of Engineering & Technology (SET), said: "I am delighted to have worked alongside the DTU Center for Mechanical Engineering (CME) to support our students in creating such a meaningful product. This achievement highlights the correct approach in developing a 'Startup University' model at DTU. The 'Active Prosthetic Limb' showcases the students' creativity, its humanitarian significance, and the practical application of mechanical engineering in improving human life."

 

Winning a lot of awards at home and abroad

 

With outstanding performance in managing a business in a simulated ERP environment, the DongRy Corporation team from the DTU became this year's champion at the 2024 SAP ERPsim Student Competition - Vietnam, officially earning a spot to represent Vietnam at the SAP ERPsim Asia-Pacific 2025.

With thorough preparation, sharp strategies, and excellent teamwork, the DTU DongRy Corporation team outperformed strong competitors nationwide to win first place. This marks a significant milestone as it is the first time a team from Central Vietnam has claimed the top spot in this prestigious competition.

 

The Architecture and Construction programs at DTU ranked at 151-200 worldwide in the QS World Rankings by Subjects 2024. This recognition is complemented by significant student achievements in 2024:

 

-    A graduation project by DTU Civil engineering students earned second prize, the highest award this year for the engineering-technology category (no first prize was awarded), at the 2024 Loa Thành Awards, judged directly by the Vietnam Construction Association. The project, entitled "Hospital - Luxury Apartment - Education Complex," was based on preliminary architectural designs by the Da Nang City Planning Institute during the completion of a 1:500 scale master plan for a 21,311m² site, fully meeting practical requirements.


-    DTU students won one overall prize, one second, and four third prizes across various competitions at the 14th National Architecture Student Festival in 2024.

Over the past 30 years, DTU has established itself as a prestigious institution in the fields of architecture and construction, supplying the labor market with nearly 10,000 Ph.D. holders, master’s graduates, engineers, and architects.

The first prize in the "Technological topics and solutions in processing" category at the 2024 "Post-Harvest Processing Technology" competition was awarded to DTU students with the product “Artistic Blooming Tea from Blue Water Lily”. This product is highly relevant in today's context, as the demand for health-conscious products, particularly herbal teas promoting sleep and reduce stress, is becoming increasingly popular.

Six DTU female students developed a highly acclaimed product using an advanced production process. When brewed, the blooming tea creates a stunningly beautiful visual display in the teapot, while preserving its full nutritional value and ensuring food safety.
