The Vietnam Logistics Human Resource Development Association (VALOMA) awarded scholarships to 20 talented students who have overcome difficulties and achieved excellent academic performance on November 30, 2024, at the University of Transport (Hanoi). Despite facing many challenges, Trinh Thanh Ly, a student from the DTU SouthStar Management Institute, was one of the 20 students nationwide to receive this prestigious scholarship.
Challenges couldn’t stop this young wwoman’s ambition
Understanding the hardships her family faced, her father’s early passing, her mother’s illness, and their near-poverty status, Thanh Ly resolved from a young age to work harder than her peers. She reminded herself to live positively, study diligently, and build a career to help her family in the future.

Her determination paid off with remarkable academic achievements during her time at DTU. Not only did she maintain an impressive GPA of 3.89/4, but she also earned a series of prestigious awards, including:
• Winner of the 2024 ERP Simulation Contest (Vietnam)
• Winner of the university-level ERP Simulation Contest
• Second place in the 2024 English Public Speaking Contest at DTU
• Certificate of Excellence in International Integration Work (2023-2024)
• Full scholarship to attend the 2024 APEC Simulation Conference in Taipei, Taiwan
• Top scorer at the DTU School of Business & Economics (SBE)
Thanh Ly is indeed deserving of being one of the 20 outstanding students to receive a scholarship from VALOMA in 2024. She was also honored to represent the 20 scholarship recipients in a speech at the VALOMA Award Ceremony held in Hanoi on November 30, 2024.
Sharing her learning journey, Thanh Ly said: “At the beginning of this academic year, I set specific goals for each subject and allocated my study time wisely. I focused on completing assignments, projects, and preparing thoroughly for exams to achieve high marks. Alongside my studies, I actively participated in professional events and seminars related to logistics to gain more industry knowledge, as well as engaging in community activities. These efforts aligned with the criteria for the VALOMA Scholarship, and I am thrilled to be one of the 20 students nationwide to receive it.”

“I am committed to excelling academically to contribute to building a high-quality logistics workforce in Vietnam. I hope that in the near future, we, the next generation, will have the opportunity to return and support the development of the VALOMA Scholarship Fund and assist other students like myself,” Thanh Ly shared.
From DTU to a dream of developing a strong Logistics workforce
After two years at DTU, this young woman from the Central Highlands has grown more confident and mature, a far cry from her first days as a freshman.
Her determination shines through, not just in her small, adorable appearance, but in her exceptional perseverance to overcome the challenges life threw at her in order to excel academically.

Thanh Ly humbly reflects, "I’m currently a third-year student in the Logistics & Supply Chain Management program at DTU. I feel incredibly proud and fortunate to study and grow in such a dynamic and modern educational environment, filled with opportunities for students. DTU not only offers me extensive professional knowledge but also provides a foundation for developing ‘soft skills’ that boost my confidence in pursuing my dreams. The accomplishments I’ve achieved today are not only the result of my own efforts but also due to the unwavering support of my teachers and the university’s exceptional investment in facilities and learning resources.”
The Logistics & Supply Chain Management program at DTU, which is designed to be practical and flexible, incorporating the latest global trends in logistics and supply chain, has impressed Thanh Ly. Courses like "Smart Port Cities," "Multimodal Transportation," and "Risk Management in Supply Chains" have helped her bridge theory with practical application. This foundation is preparing her to pursue a career in large companies, focusing on sustainable logistics and green logistics solutions after graduation.
