“Building a Communication - Marketing Plan” Talkshow

On April 23rd, the Organizing Committee of the DTU Start Up 2024 competition held a Training Talkshow entitled: "Building a Communication - Marketing Plan" for the 20 teams that made it to the Semi-finals. The event was a success with the participation of two speakers in this field, namely Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, CEO of TRIMAI Media Company, and Mr. Le Duc Nguyen, Founder & CEO of Banh mi Khoi, who is also a DTU K18 alumnus.

As the main speaker, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Huong, who has over 10 years of experience in the Hospitality industry and more than 5 years in Marketing, shared her knowledge and experience with the DTU Start Up 2024 teams. Through Ms. Mai Huong's insights, the teams gained a better understanding of the necessary steps to make effective communication plans. Specifically, the teams identified:
 
- Current effective communication channels;
- Criteria for selecting appropriate communication channels based on the goals of the communication campaign;
- The target audience for communication;
- The purpose of communication: Information, education, entertainment, promotion;
- Communication products: Traditional (newspapers, television, radio) or modern (digital marketing, websites, apps).
 
Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Huong enthusiastically answered questions by the competitive teams.
 
In the Marketing Planning segment, Ms. Mai Huong provided useful information on: Market analysis, Market segmentation, Setting S.M.A.R.T marketing goals, Crafting communication messages, Selecting marketing channels, Building a plan and budget, and Measuring and reporting. She also emphasized common mistakes in communication planning that prevent achieving desired results. Based on this information, the teams accumulated knowledge and skills and learned how to choose and use the necessary tools to create a thorough and effective marketing plan, aligning with the goals of their startup projects. 
 
Additionally, Mr. Le Duc Nguyen shared his personal experiences in startup process with the competitive teams. This allowed the teams to learn and apply these insights into their own startup endeavors. Moreover, during the program, the speakers enthusiastically answered questions about the challenges faced by young entrepreneurs.
 
Nguy?n Ng?c Thanh Sinh, a K27 student of Logistics & Supply Chain Management, shared: “I am a member of a team with two projects that made it to the semi-finals: a 'Smart wearable device for remote control of electronic devices' and 'Manufacture and production of cargo-lifting Robots (AGVs)'. The talkshow was truly beneficial for me and for others participating in the DTU Start-Up competition. The speakers shared communication knowledge and marketing theories and connected many real-life case studies so that those of us who are not majoring in marketing or economics could understand and apply the insights to our projects. Particularly, the speakers provided detailed solutions for each team’s business model, helping us to build more effective marketing and startup plans in the future.”
 
The "Building a Communication - Marketing Plan" training talkshow is an opportunity for DTU students with a passion for entrepreneurship to be equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to bring their projects to success. The speakers brought valuable information and insights about practical communication and marketing, thereby inspiring and encouraging young entrepreneurs on their path to success.
