Dr. Pham Phu Anh Huy, Vice - Rector of the DTU School of Engineering and Technology, shared: “It can be said that BIM technology is a useful tool in the Construction and Architecture sectors. We can save a lot of costs if we apply BIM technology early in the design, construction, or management of building projects. However, the workforce proficient in BIM technology is still quite scarce in Da Nang in particular and in Vietnam in general. Therefore, this talk show provides valuable information on the application of BIM technology and also helps create many connections with experts in collaborative training in the fields of Architecture and Construction at DTU.”

Currently, the trend of applying BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology in the design, construction, and management of civil, industrial, and infrastructure projects is being implemented and widely adopted in many countries worldwide. The importance of BIM in this field can be summarized by the following key points: improving design efficiency, optimizing project management, enhancing quality and accuracy, optimizing costs and time, enhancing sustainability, and managing assets and maintenance.

In Vietnam, many design firms and contractors have gradually introduced BIM applications such as Autodesk Revit and Tekla in practical projects, starting from the design concept stage to later construction management. BIM has become an indispensable tool in the construction and architecture industry, bringing significant benefits in terms of economics, management, and project operation. According to the direction of the Ministry of Construction, from 2025 all projects of level 2 and above must apply BIM to be approved.

During the talk show, Architect Nguyen Phuoc Thien provided in-depth analysis and specific evidence on the application of BIM technology in the field of Construction and Architecture. According to Architect Nguyen Phuoc Thien, to reduce maintenance and operation costs, BIM must be applied throughout the project lifecycle (planning - design - construction) and the product lifecycle (planning - design - construction - operation). Architect Nguyen Phuoc Thien also believes that the application of BIM will facilitate the exchange and cooperation among participants, optimizing the design, construction, and management of projects.

The talk show became more meaningful as Architect Nguyen Phuoc Thien spent a lot of time answering questions and encouraging DTU students and participants to actively debate.

The "BIM Innovation 2024 - Technology Breakthroughs in Design and Construction" talkshow not only provided useful information to the DTU faculty and students but also opened up many avenues for research cooperation in training between experts and the university in the future.
