On January 31, DTU signed an agreement with Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations (DAFO). Attendees included Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh, Chairman of DAFO; Mr. Pham Huu Hoa and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen, DAFO’s Vice Chairs; Dr. Le Nguyen Tue Hang, DTU Vice-Provost, and representatives from DTU departments and offices.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh, DAFO Chairman, said: "In the context of the rapidly changing and unpredictable global situation, the work of people-to-people diplomacy requires continuous innovation, creativity, and flexibility to make the people-to-people foreign affairs of Da Nang city increasingly comprehensive and distinctive. It aims to mobilize more sectors, levels, and community layers to participate and contribute both human and material resources to diversify and elevate the scale of people-to-people foreign affairs activities.
Today's signing ceremony holds significant importance as a milestone marking the development phase of cooperation between the two units. I am confident that with the determination of both sides, the signing ceremony will contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of organizing people-to-people foreign affairs activities in Da Nang city. This, in turn, will help expand international exchanges and cooperation, strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam in general, and the city of Da Nang in particular, with countries around the world."
After a period of research, DTU and DAFO have decided to sign a Cooperation Agreement on coordinating the implementation of people-to-people foreign affairs activities in Da Nang City for the period 2024 - 2026. This serves as the legal basis for deploying cooperative activities in the coming time, contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of people-to-people foreign affairs work in Da Nang and expanding international exchanges and cooperation. It aims to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular with countries worldwide.
The signing ceremony
According to the agreement, depending on the nature and scale of each activity and event, the two parties will coordinate the organization of activities in the following five main areas:
- Peace, solidarity, and friendship; people-to-people exchanges, culture, and arts: Organizing international conferences, seminars, forums; people's friendship festivals, cultural festivals, art performances, cultural introductions, culinary exchanges, friendship exchanges, delegation exchanges, etc., with other countries.
- Educational exchanges: Organizing conferences, seminars, and discussions to introduce study abroad programs, scholarships from various countries; organizing international student exchange groups, interns; discussions on teaching and learning experiences with universities around the world.
- Mobilization of non-refundable aid from agencies and organizations: Collaborating in seeking and mobilizing foreign agencies, organizations, and individuals to implement educational cooperation programs and projects, people-to-people exchanges; providing aid and support to students and pupils in difficult circumstances.
- International volunteers: Collaborating in searching for and connecting international volunteers for teaching, language exchanges, and participation in social work at DTU and partner units of the DAFO.
- Media: The two parties will collaborate in information and external propaganda about people-to-people foreign affairs and related educational and training activities.

At the ceremony, the two parties also signed an annex outlining the people-to-people foreign affairs activities organized by the DAFO and DTU to be carried out in 2024. Some of the notable activities include:
- Organizing the National Japanese Singing Festival - Da Nang 2024, and the Final Round of the National Japanese Speech Contest - Da Nang 2024.
- Collaborating to host a Vietnam-South Korea cultural exchange event to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Korea (12/22/1992 - 12/22/2024).
- Conducting an international student seminar contributing to the common prosperity development within the ASEAN country community.
- Implementing an ASEAN cultural and friendship exchange program among students from the countries and participating in humanitarian and charitable activities in Da Nang city.
Dr. Le Nguyen Tue Hang, DTU Vice-Provost, said: "After nearly 30 years of establishment and development, one of the DTU highlights is its international cooperation activities, which have reached the level of international integration. Since its inception, DTU has established and maintained sustainable relationships with over 400 universities and educational institutions worldwide. Notably, in the process of connecting the ASEAN community, DTU and several universities in the region, founded the Passage to ASEAN (P2A), marking a significant milestone in the educational exchange and integration relationships among Southeast Asian countries. We hope that the cooperation between DTU and the DAFO, with many practical activities being implemented, will bring the people of Da Nang more opportunities for exchange, enhanced understanding, and integration."
