Hero of Labor and Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co speaks
Writer Mr. Tan Hoai Da Vu edited the book and had many interesting things to explain at the launch. “When I read the book, I was honestly quite surprised, because I did not expect that Mr. Thao and Mr. Le Cong Co, who we knew during the war as ’men of action’, would give up everything on reunification to devote the rest of their days to education. They built a small foreign-language center into the prestigious university that is DTU today, tempered by their previous lives to quickly become ‘men of thinking’, harboring profound thoughts about our national culture. We all aspire to having a happy university in our homeland, including the younger generation.”

The book is divided into seven chapters and contains several profound insights on the humanistic values of the Vietnamese culture. The author devotes many pages to enthusiastically expressing a variety of his thoughts about running a happy university.
“For a university, the core of happiness is to preserve the best values of the past while creating new values and products to enrich our material and spiritual lives,” said Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co, “And especially to educate students to be cultured and knowledgeable, and contribute to a civilized, fair and compassionate society. The ultimate, perfect civilization must foster the best wives, husbands, fathers and mothers, and make life as comfortable for then all as possible.”
Mr Tan Hoai Da Vu, personally in charge of editing the book, had many interesting things to say at the book launch
“Given all this, the university itself must provide a happy environment. Happiness, however, does not come falling out of the sky. A true university requires everyone to make the maximum effort to educate its teachers to become truly inquiring individuals through teaching, research, and the cultivation of morals. Only then will a university be able to really graduate scientifically oriented and ethical professionals. On achieving this, the university environment will ultimately become a perfectly happy one. And such is the burning aspiration of DTU.”
Mr. Tan Hoai Da Vu added: “There are two important questions in our lives: the first one is, ‘do we really find joy?’ and the second one is, ‘do we bring joy to others?’ I think Hero of Labor and Distinguished Teacher Le Cong Co has answered these two questions, he has certainly found joy in life and brought joy to others. Congratulations on the launch of your new book.”
