The new state-of-the-art, luxurious library meets all the requirements of the Gen-Z students. This third of three DTU libraries, located at the 3 Quang Trung campus, was officially opened on May 15. Besides meeting traditional study needs, the university library now also serves as a place where students can engage in group studies, give presentations, and just relax.
Comfortably meeting deadlines, giving presentations, studying, and relaxing
In addition to meeting and presentation rooms, the new library also provides rooms for: personal study, group study, specialized reading, processing, document storage and multimedia classes. At the opening ceremony, a group of students gave presentations in one of the new meeting rooms.

Mai Hoa, a Tourism & Hospitality Management student said: “What I like most is the space, and the tables and chairs in the study rooms are personally designed with creativity. Many seemingly simple but essential things will inspire us when giving presentations or running after deadlines, this is really what we needed.”
At the loan and return counter, student Tien An, who majors in General Practitioner studies said: “Medical students are often branded as bookworms, because Medicine is more demanding than most other majors and we usually spend more time at the library than at home. The library is quiet, clean, and modern. On off days, I always come here from 7 am to 9 pm, so the librarians probably recognize me already.”
Library rooms for presentations, group and individual studies
The new library is crowded with students but very quiet. In one of the self-study corners, a student is sleeping after a tiring class schedule. Other students also go to the library to rest after lunch. “We go to the library almost every day,” a group of accounting students explains. “The library is spacious and clean, with excellent air-conditioning and Wi-Fi. On hot summer days, we can’t concentrate on our studies other rooms.” Meanwhile, another group is checking into social media to capture thousands of views and likes by photographing the luxurious surroundings, the Danang Administrative Center and the Han River.

Library with a variety of specialized books
DTU students are already fully familiar with the different major and field criteria, with each university library serving different disciplines.

- The library on the seventh floor of 3 Quang Trung serves the School of Computer Science (SCS) and the Hospitality & Tourism Institute (HTi).
The books at DTU’s libraries are diverse, containing 60,000 copies of printed material, 200,000 textbooks and famous books by well-known Vietnamese and foreign authors. Also, new publications by subject and type are regularly updated or added to address the university’s wide-ranging education programs. Bookshelves have been designed to accommodate printed material in the most logical way, and books are arranged from small to large, from left to right, from top to bottom, and sorted by topic according to a decimal system, with 10 main categories from 000 to 999, making them easy to locate. The university has created a digital library using the Dspace 6.2 software application to manage digital collections, stores, reports, statistics, and so on. The digital library has 102,000 electronic titles connected to major databases worldwide.
Access to domestic and international databases, like the Vietnam Science & Technology Database (STD), the ProQuest Central database, the Springer Link database, the IEEE database, and tailieu.vn, maximizes the students’ ability to study and conduct their research under the most favorable conditions.

The library adds about 1,200 foreign-language textbooks and reference books each year. The books are from world-famous publishers like Oxford University, Cambridge University, MIT Press, Routledge, Cengage Learning, Elsevier, Wiley, Pearson, etc. Students can come here to read books on study methodology: CDIO, PBL, design thinking, evidence-based learning, etc. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, etc. as well as graduation theses.
A variety of printed material including comics, skills books, magazines…
Besides specialized books, the DTU libraries also has lots of literary books, reference books, books offering entertainment, skills books, and a variety of specialized magazines. The foreign magazine corner specifically contains a variety of magazines about history, art, painting, photography, knitting, architecture, interior design, woodworking, homecrafts etc. and the comics corner has Japanese manga and American graphic novels from DC and Marvel.
“DTU simultaneously applies new technology solutions to operation management to operate its three libraries, over a total area of 2,026 m²,” states a university representative. “The library is secured by cameras and magnetic gates with RFID chips. The e-library management software is integrated into eLib. It conveniently enables us to catalog and manage our books, manage their circulation, manage users, search, borrow online, do automatic book renewal, ensure security, decentralization, and statistical reporting. In particular, the AntiPLG plagiarism detection software helps us check document replication, identify duplicate sources, and analyze writing styles. An IoT application allows us to monitor parameters like the number of people gathered in any location, air quality, fine dust, temperature, humidity, noise, and light intensity. Adjustments are then made to save energy and to protect student and lecturer health in the library. The library IT applications also allow for the timely updating and improvement of management, reader service quality analysis and evaluation, and document and circulation status assessment.”
