A White Coat Ceremony for K26 Odonto-Stomatology Students

On April 11, the DTU Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology held a White Coat ceremony for K26 students, to honor the medical profession and mark the milestone when future doctors begin their clinical practice at hospitals. The event is celebrated traditionally at medical universities around the world, just before direct contact is made with the first patients. 
 
Attendees included Professor Dr. Huu Dang, Provost of the College of Medicine and Pharmacy; Dr. Hoang Ha, Vice-Provost of the College of Medicine and Pharmacy; MSc. Nguyen Ha Quoc Trung, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Odonto-Stomatology; lecturers, and K26 Odonto-Stomatology students.

The ceremony signifies the commencement of the students’ careers as doctors, and DTU lecturers remind them that the white coats signify their responsibility for the health and lives of their patients, and the importance of adhering to the strict ethical code of medical conduct, regardless of all the challenges they may face.

Professor Dang advised his students to continue to study hard, maintain a positive attitude, and refine their vital skills before entering the medical profession. He emphasized that the care and health of the patient should always be the students’ primary concern, and that they should always conduct themselves with integrity. He stressed the importance of becoming a doctor. 
 
Tran Trung Tan, a representative of K26 students majoring in Odonto-Stomatology, expressed his feelings while putting on his white coat, and made a promise to his future patients.

The act of putting on white coats symbolizes the students taking the oath of their responsibilities as doctors. All students felt honored and recognized the need to put additional effort into becoming competent doctors, who prioritize the health and lives of their patients over everything else. The ceremony ended happily, and participants gained the self-confidence and motivation they needed to continue their clinical education at DTU and now at their local hospitals
