BUFS, founded in 1981, is a private foreign languages institution, recognized in 1998 as an elite university and for educational reform in 2002. BUFS is listed in the top 40 universities in Korea and in the top 5 foreign language universities there.

Former Myanmar President Thein Sein visited BUFS in 2014 and 70% of the BUFS professors are members of the TOPIK Korean language test committee. TOPIK is closely related to the Sejong Korean Language Center, one of the most prestigious Korean language teaching centers and, in 2017, the number of TOPIK graduates working abroad was the highest in the country.

BUFS aims to cultivate multi-cultural professionals who can create global business opportunities, and its core subject areas focus on developing foreign language expertise together with a deep cultural understanding of the international community.
BUFS currently partners with 100 universities in 24 countries and, in addition to foreign language training, courses are also offered in International Studies, International Business and Information Technology. The agreement involved cooperation on faculty exchanges, joint research projects and specialized seminar activities.

Meanwhile, DTU is also a founding member of the Passage to ASEAN Association (P2A), and will organize activities such as the P2A Journey, P2A Internships, the P2A Academic Forum, P2A Games and the P2A International program, to enable students from Korea, Japan and China to exchange information and adopt the required life skills for their future careers.
