On August 5, DTU, the Okayama Shoka University in Japan and the JOOSS Education & Training Support Vietnam signed an agreement online to prepare DTU students for study or work in Japan after the pandemic.
Professor Ijiri Akio, Provost of Okayama Shoka University; Mr. Shohei Yabuki, Chief Representative of the JOOSS Education & Training Support in Japan; Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, DTU Provost; Dr. Le Vinh An, Director of the Vietnam-Japan Strategic Cooperation Institute, DTU lecturers and staff attended.
Professor Akio, Provost of Okayama Shoka University, stated: “Okayama Shoka University has 13,000 students, including 500 from abroad, and Vietnamese students account for a sizable percentage of them. We have 11 faculties for undergraduates and 7 for graduate students. With careful preparation, our university is ready to welcome DTU students to earn a degree and learn Japanese at the same time.”

Both universities will jointly promote student and faculty exchanges, dual degree programs, admission registration, workshops and research projects.
Mr. Shohei Yabuki, Chief Representative of the JOOSS Education & Training Support in Japan, said: “Since our establishment, the JOOSS Education & Training Support in Japan has interfaced foreign universities with students who want to come to Japan to improve their Japanese and learn about our business culture and future career opportunities. We will continue to bridge DTU students with well-known Japanese universities and companies. Our partnership will enable DTU students to improve their Japanese and their professionalism and guarantee them lucrative future careers.”
Signing the agreement
The terms of the letter of agreement included:
- Joint promotion of educational programs with Japanese universities, assisting DTU students to study in Japan under the Student Abroad Program for a double degree, and the arrangement of yearly exchange programs.
- Coordination with the VJISC representative office at DTU to teach Vietnamese Japanese courses.
- Building a network of Japanese companies to offer internships for DTU students and providing them with fully qualified workers, with the support of the Jooss Fund.
- Investment in the development of medical services, education, research and technology transfer with the support of social organizations, Japanese universities and businesses.
Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, DTU Provost, said: “DTU is honored to sign this agreement with Okayama Shoka University and JOOSS Education & Training Support. This new development is compatible with current Vietnam-Japan plans in the Asia-Pacific region to improve education by the exchange of technology and human resources internationally. In conjunction with our partnerships with universities in the West and the US, we will now also promote joint education programs with prestigious Japanese universities. DTU will assist senior students to apply to Okayama University under our transfer and internship programs and, meanwhile, we will continue to welcome Japanese students to DTU on exchange, to study full-time or intern. At the same time, Okayama Shoka University will support visiting DTU lecturers and students during their internships and study programs there.”
