The 2021 edition of the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS), prepared by the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, has just been released. DTU made its first appearance this year, with its Computer Science and Engineering major ranked in the 301-400 band. In Vietnam, Ton Duc Thang University and DTU both appear in GRAS 2021, with the DTU Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Mathematics major also listed in the 401-500 range.

ShanghaiRanking – Universities Worldwide
The ShanghaiRanking higher education intelligence consultancy, which began ranking academic programs internationally in 2009, is not affiliated with any universities or government agencies and is considered a world leader, together with the QS World University Rankings and the Times Higher Education organizations.
The Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) index was first published in 2017. GRAS 2021 ranks 1,800 out of 4,000 universities in 93 countries, in 54 Natural Science, Engineering, Life Science, Medical Science and Social Science categories.
The GRAS rankings employ a wide range of objective academic indicators and third-party data to measure the performance of world universities in respective subjects, according to:

- Research influence (CNCI),
- International collaboration (IC),
- Research quality (Top)
- The index of Nobel and Field prizes won
The index of international academic awards is based on the Academic Excellence Survey (AES), conducted by ShanghaiRanking since 2017. By February 2021, 1,000 professors from the leading universities worldwide have participated. Their responses reported publications in 164 top journals in 48 subjects, 32 major awards in 27 subjects and 26 conference awards in Computer Science & Engineering alone.
DTU Computer Science and Engineering: Ranked Number One in Vietnam
In August 2020, the American-based Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited the DTU Network Engineering and Management Information Systems programs, and DTU became the only accredited private university in Vietnam. Meanwhile, ABET continued to evaluate the DTU Software Engineering program with the hope of official accreditation sometime this year.
ABET is considered the world’s gold standard in Engineering and Technology academic training and their official accreditation results in international recognition. DTU can guarantee that students will now have access to the most advanced academic curricula worldwide.
DTU’s partnership with Carnegie Mellon University offers the most advanced IT programs
Currently, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford, Berkeley and Carnegie Mellon universities are recognized as world leaders in Computer Science and Engineering education. Over the past 10 years, DTU has partnered with Carnegie Mellon, ranked fourth globally by ShanghaiRanking, to share Software Engineering, Information Systems and Cybersecurity/Information Security curricula.

CMU is now considered the leading university in Artificial Intelligence research and training and shares their new Big Data and Artificial Intelligence programs with Duy Tan University. DTU CMU International-Standard Software Engineering students will benefit from the latest Informatics knowledge and teaching methods and, on graduation, 19 to 21 internationally recognized course-completion certificates will be awarded by CMU.
DTU IT students have continued to excel in national and international competitions through these types of advanced programs and are highly-qualified for internships and full-time careers at local and foreign companies, including IBM, Enclave, FPT, LogiGear and Gear Inc.
