Since 2009, SCImago, a well-known ranking service in Spain, has assessed universities and other research-oriented institutions internationally. This year, Duy Tan University was ranked eighth in Vietnam and came 736 out of 7,533 establishments worldwide.

Since 2020, several Vietnamese universities have improved their rankings, nationally and worldwide. Ton Duc Thang University jumped 83 places to 663 worldwide, from fifth to second in Vietnam; Vietnam National University in Hanoi rose 29 places to 726, from eighth to fourth in Vietnam; DTU moved up 16 positions to 736, from seventh to sixth in Vietnam. However, the Institute of Post and Telecommunications Technology dropped out of the top 10, replaced by the University of Danang and the Military Technical Academy, both ranked at 10.

SCImago is a research group from the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the University of Granada, Extremadura, Carlos III (Madrid) and Alcalá de Henares, who retrieve and analyze SCOPUS data using visualization techniques.
The purpose of this ranking is to provide a useful measurement tool for organizations, policymakers and research managers to analyze, evaluate and improve their research activities. This year’s rankings were based on three criteria: Research Performance (50%), Innovation Outputs (30%), and Societal Impact (20%) based on internet presence.

DTU ranked number 3 in Social Impact, including inbound links, websites and altimetric indicators and 4 in Research, based on Normalized Impact, Output, International Collaboration, Publication Quality and Excellence.
