On April 15, the DTU Faculty of Law and Danang representatives of the Office of Intellectual Property held a talkshow entitled: "Students and Intellectual Property Rights in 2021", to promote an awareness and provide an exchange for DTU lecturers and students with experts in the field in of Intellectual Property.
MSc. Ngo Phuong Tra, Chief Representative, and Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc from the Danang Intellectual Property Bureau; Associate Professor Le Thi Chau, Dean of DTU Law and MSc. Nguyen Thi Thu Hong, Deputy-Head of DTU Law; lecturers and staff attended.

MSc. Ngo Phuong Tra talked about establishing and protecting intellectual property rights. She said: “When we have a clearer understanding of intellectual property rights in Vietnam, we will be able to protect our own inventions. Today, I am promoting a basic appreciation of those rights, but the successful implementation lies solely in your hands. I hope that you will all take responsibility for spreading this information in the academic community.”
Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc then presented general issues of Intellectual Property Rights, including Copyright related, Industrial Property and Plant Variety Rights, involving the copyrighting of text, applied art, photography, sculpture, computer programs and related performance, broadcasting and satellite encoding rights.
Law students ask questions
Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc stressed that the protection of intellectual property helps balance profits, boosts economic development, creates healthy competition, contributes to income diversification, strengthens international relations and attracts foreign investment. It is vital for DTU students and the younger generation in Vietnam to respect other people’s rights, protect their own rights and continue to conduct innovative research.
