On December 23, the Ministry of Information and Communications, in coordination with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), announced the winners of the 2020 “Make in Vietnam” awards. The DTU 3D Virtual Reality Healthcare Study & Research application defeated heavy competition to win a second prize in the “Potential Digital Products” category. This year, the DTU research team also developed the 3D Dental Anatomical Simulation model and DTU became the only Vietnamese university to win an award among the country’s major software companies.

DTU Lecturer Wins Second Prize in the 2020 Danang Fine Arts Exhibition
The 2020 Danang Fine Arts exhibition took place from December 9 to 17 and was attended by many local art lovers. One of the works, entitled “Cozy Mountain Night”, by Mr. Nguyen Tien Viet, a DTU lecturer of Architecture & Fine Arts, was awarded second prize, there were no firsts. Mr. Viet’s extremely skillful woodblock printing portrayed the Vietnamese peasants’ dear friend, the water buffalo on a piercingly cold winter day. Previously, on December 1st, at the 2020 Vietnam Fine Arts Exhibition at the Vietnam Culture & Arts Exhibition Centre in Hanoi, his “Thread of Memory” of a sewing machine and “Fate” paintings won a C prize at the 2019 Literature & Arts Awards.

Agreement Signed with German Education Company EduGo
DTU signed an agreement with EduGo Education International on December 24 to facilitate Nursing students to study and work in Germany. According to the memorandum of cooperation, EduGo will provide DTU with guidance on preferential training programs and fee structures for a professional overseas studies partnership, leading to a Diploma of Nursing, including workshops, conferences and exchange meetings. Students travelling to Germany will first enroll in intensive training at the German Language and Culture Institutes in Hanoi or at DTU, and then enroll in free Nursing classes in Germany, with advanced facilities and equipment, for 12 to 15 months. At the same time, they will earn up to 2,000 euros per month and be introduced to jobs in German hospitals, polyclinics and sanatoriums in Berlin, Bavaria and other locations.

The Next Banker program
DTU and the Asia Commercial Bank Danang branch announced the Next Banker program, a new 2021 startup activity. The program was designed for final-year Economics students interested in employment in Finance - Banking and provides extra real-time experience to prepare them to become expert Bankers. Students will be able to consult with experienced experts to plan their careers, receive support during the completion of their theses and qualify for a banking career. Special workshops will also be arranged to teach more about the banking business and broaden student skills and practical experience, prior to graduation.

Winners at the 2020 Vietnamese Student Informatics Olympiad
The Central Region section of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia contest was held on November 11, with 400 teams from universities nationwide and the DTU team won second prize. Then, from November 8 to 11, at the 2020 Vietnamese Student Informatics Olympiad at Can Tho University, DTU students won a second prize in the Procon division, two seconds in the Non-IT Specialist division and two consolation prizes in the IT Specialist division. On November 15, they then won a consolation prize in the National ICPC finals.

Opening of the 13th Annual DTU Mini-Football Tournament
DTU kicked-off the 13th annual DTU mini-football tournament on December 5th at the DTU Stadium, to promote health and physical exercise at the university. This year, 120 staff and lecturers competed, after many days of practice to impress the spectators.

A Female Student from the Philippines enrolls in Strategic Marketing at DTU
Frances Summer Dale V. Dy is a new and dynamic DTU student from the Philippines. Recently, she enrolled in the Strategic Marketing program at DTU to learn about international marketing and realize her dream of obtaining a Bachelor's degree. In high school, Summer had participated in several extracurricular activities, entering the Division Mathematics contest and, from 2014 to 2018, winning prizes at the TAPSA Academic Competition, an English Quiz & Spelling Bee.
She said: "My first semester at DTU has been very interesting. At first, I was a bit concerned because this was the first time I had studied in an international environment. I am enthused by the friendliness of my lecturers and fellow students and enjoy the lectures so much that I always look forward to going to school.”
