DTU Students and Community Service

DTU students have worked together with the community to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Ngo Dinh Nam, Secretary of the DTU Medical Union, recruited 150 Health Sciences students in response to an appeal by the Danang People’s Committee and the Danang Health Department to combat the virus. Six DTU volunteers also assisted frontline healthcare workers at the Hoa Vang field hospital from August 6 to 29 and another 23 trained to work at the at the Tien Son Sports Center field hospital. 
 
Groups of volunteers worked around-the-clock to transport necessities and clean the facilities in Hoa Vang and in other isolated areas around the city. 35 DTU others worked at checkpoints in Danang.
 
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, Chairman of the DTU Student Union, stated that 23 students lodged in the eastern dorm, 107 in the western and 622 elsewhere. Directed by the Board of Rectors, the DTU Youth Union appealed for funding from DTU alumni, lecturers, staff and the 19,000 students, to provide basic essentials to needy local students, raising 600 donations totaling 94 million dong. In addition, the DTU Pharmaceutical Union delivered face masks and hand sanitizer to low-income families. 
 
DTU students also participated in the "Zero Supermarket" activity, sponsored by the city’s Vietnamese Student Association, to assist students with difficulties living in dorms. Meanwhile, DTU researchers perfected the DTU-Vent ventilator version 3.0,that meets all medical requirements, for use in emergencies and to treat Covid-19 patients.
