On November 8, three Vietnamese researchers were named among the world’s 100,000 most cited scientists in the monthly peer reviewed journal PLOS Biology. 22 Vietnamese are included this year, which was compiled by the Jeroen Baas Metrics team, based on the Scopus abstract and citation indicators from 7 million submissions, from 1960 to the end of 2019.
Three Vietnamese scientists are listed
The ranking is based on six citation metrics, including total citation, the Hirsch h-index; the co-authorship adjusted Schreiber hm-index; the number of citations to papers per single author; the number of citations to papers per single or first author; and number of citations to papers per single, first or last author. The researchers were categorized into 22 fields and 176 sub-fields.
Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc from Vietnam National University in Hanoi was ranked 5,798, Professor Nguyen Xuan Hung from Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology, 6,996 and Associate Professor Le Hoang Son from Viet Nam National University - Ha Noi, 9,261. They were also all listed in 2019. In particular, Professors Nguyen Dinh Duc and Nguyen Xuan Hung were honored for their exceptional lifetime research performance.
Next came Bui Dieu Tien from Ton Duc Thang University, at 13,899; Hoang Anh Tuan from the Ho Chi Minh city University of Transport, 16,694; Tran Phan Lam Son from Duy Tan University, 22,075; Pham Thai Binh from Duy Tan University, 23,198; Tran Hai Nguyen from Duy Tan University, 25,844; Pham Viet Thanh from Ton Duc Thang University, 44,947; Nguyen Thoi Trung from Ton Duc Thang University, 49,295; Hoang Duc Nhat from Duy Tan University, 50,345; Nguyen Trung Kien from the National University of Civil Engineering, 51,072; Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh from Ton Duc Thang University, 62,494; Thai Hoang Chien from Ton Duc Thang University, 64,983; Vo Xuan Vinh from the University of Economics in HCMC, 67,902; Tran Ngoc Han from Duy Tan University, 73,924; Dinh Quang Hai from Ton Duc Thang University, 79,737; Nguyen Van Hieu from Phenikaa University, 82,061; Pham Van Hung from the International University, at VNU Ho Chi Minh city, 85,932; Tran Dinh Phong from the University of Science and Technology in Hanoi, 90,842 and Phan Thanh Son Nam from the Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology, 92,886.
These significant achievements have recently made Vietnamese researchers well-known in the international scientific community, as a result of the recent comprehensive regeneration of higher education in Vietnam.
