DTU holds the 2020 ASEAN Virtual Entrepreneurship Hackathon

DTU, in collaboration with the Universitas Islam Indonesia and the Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore, held the 2020 Asean Virtual Entrepreneurship Hackathon. Five teams from DTU, five from Universitas Islam Indonesia and two from the Temasek Polytechnic participated. The objective was to inspire innovation, improve entrepreneurship skills and provide an international workshop environment for the contest.

Since the launch of the Hackathon in August, various activities have been held to help students brainstorm innovative startup ideas and improve their presentation skills, including the Innovation Workshop on “Inventive Problem Solving”, which took place on October 8th in Danang. 
 
Dr. Le Nguyen Tue Hang, DTU Vice-Provost, Dr. Wiryono Raharjo, Vice-Rector for Partnership and Entrepreneurship at Universitas Islam Indonesia, Dr. Eng. Risdiyono, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Program, Faculty of Industrial Technology, and President of the Indonesia TRIZ Practitioners Association (InTRIZ), Dr. Arif Wismadi, Director of the Growth Hub, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Wallace Lim, Acting-Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department at Temasek Polytechnic, and students from the 12 teams attended the workshop.
 
Dr. Risdiyono gave a lecture on “An Introduction to Inventive Problem-Solving with Teoriya Resheniya Izobretatelskikh Zadatch (TRIZ)”. He provided solutions contradictions in Engineering on:
 
- The construction engineering contradiction: If … then … but…
- Identifying improving parameters and worsening parameters
- Using a contradiction matrix and forty 40 inventive principles to develop ideas and solutions

Other lectures on the Business Model Canvas (BMC) and presentation skills were given and students assigned practice exercises on them.  
 
The schedule the 2020 Asean Virtual Entrepreneurship Hackathon is:
 
- From October to November: Teams will brainstorm and prepare preliminary presentations 
- November 9th: Mentors from each institution will meet online for 20-minute feedback sessions, 10 minutes per group and 10 per mentor
- December 30th: Students will pre-record their 12 to 15-minute presentations and transmit them with recordings for judging
- January 29th, 2021: Results announced and e-certificates issued
