Hoang Tan Toan, from Quang Binh, was awarded a full scholarship for the Tourism Culture of Vietnam HP (High Performance) program after scoring 27.25 in his 2020 High School Graduation exam.
He works hard and loves sports because of his father
Football is Tan Toan’s favorite sport, but he also enjoys volleyball, badminton, table tennis and swimming.

Tan Toan explained: “My father alone inspired and motivated me to love sports. Although he lost a leg in a work accident, he has been competing in athletic programs and provincial swimming prizes ever since. As I’ve observed his optimism and patience overcoming all difficulties to pursue his passion, despite his disability, I tell myself that I must study hard to become as productive. I started liking sports after training with my father and felt myself becoming steadily healthier and stronger. That’s why I always make time for sports after class, to extend my endurance and prepare for my future”.
“I use three different colored pens taking History and Geography notes: Red for the most important events, green for lesser ones and yellow and star marks for more difficult content that requires more attention. In Literature, after some research, I discovered that the text must be read thoroughly and some sample test questions created to improve vocabulary and expression.”
Dreaming of becoming a tour guide
Studying at DTU, Tan Toan hopes to learn all about the Tourism Culture of Vietnam and the skills required to work as a tour guide, in order to introduce and promote his hometown internationally. He was born in Quang Binh, frequently referred to as the “Kingdom of Caves”, for the magnificent Phong Nha, Tien, Paradise, Son Doong and En caves and pristine beaches, including Nhat Le Beach, Sea Rock Jump, Vung Chua-Dao Yen and the Quang Phu sand dunes.

Tan Toan explained: "I think that the quality of education is top priority in choosing a university. I finally decided that DTU met my expectations and enrolled in the DTU Tourism Culture of Vietnam (HP) program to realize my dream of becoming a professional tour guide and travelling around the world.”.
