Just another ordinary student becomes an exceptional one and is admitted to DTU

Hoang Dang Quang, from the Do Dang Tuyen High School in Dai Loc, Quang Nam, had poor academic performance in grade 10. However, with hard work and the help of his History teacher, he made a breakthrough to achieve an outstanding 26.5 points in his 2020 HSGE exam, with a 9.25 in Geography and 8.75 in History. Dang Quang was then admitted to the DTU Tourism & Travel Management program.

From a student with poor academic performance to...

In his first year of high school, Dang Quang often missed classes to play video games but, after a while, realized that he had to make a change. "My History teacher understood my situation and helped me.  Thanks to her advice, I made steady progress and by the end of the first semester, did well in History. After that, I was determined to lose my bad habits and started to study harder in all subjects. As a result, I was granted a well-mannered good student title."

Dang Quang’s achievements in grade 11 drove his acceleration into grade 12, where he did well in all subjects. As well as being a good student, Quang was also a good son, trusted by teachers and friends and was elected Class Monitor. His sustained efforts have since paid off. In grade 12, Quang won an Excellent Student title and participated in the Youth Union, volunteer activities, swimming, soccer, gym and dancing.

Dang Quang’s idol is artist & MC Tran Thanh. He adds: “I have learned a lot from my idol Tran Thanh, about his sophistication, work ethic and time management. One of my favorite books is “Happy for No Reason” by Marci Shimoff, which outlines the 7-step process for achieving lasting happiness. It taught me how to accept and overcome difficulties and get what I want, which is happiness."

... dreaming of becoming a tour guide

Dang Quang wants to be a tour guide and started by researching top universities for Hospitality courses. He said: "While looking, I paid great attention to admission requirements, scholarships, education quality and career opportunities. I finally decided that DTU met my expectations and enrolled in the DTU Tourism & Travel Management program. My family all agreed with my choice ".

After his first week at DTU, Dang Quang said: "My first impression of DTU is that everyone is extremely friendly and motivated, from the teachers to the security guards. I find the senior students to be very energetic and helpful. To achieve my goal to work as a tour guide, I have resolved to study diligently and hope to have very fond memories of DTU, my lecturers and colleagues on graduation.”
