Normally, most of the highest ranked universities are large schools in advanced and developed countries, but recently Vietnamese universities have suddenly started appearing on the lists, and DTU is one of them. Infrastructure: international standard, state-of-the-art
The DTU strategy has always been to construct a modern, international infrastructure to enable highly effective education and research. DTU has created a large and convenient campus network covering 36 hectares of land, including 7 hectares in the city center, with 200 classrooms and auditoriums, fully equipped with projectors, wide-angle cameras and air conditioning for all.
DTU invests in information technology and electrical engineering workshops
Facilities include:
- IT: 1,300 computers and 150 laptops, with free internet throughout the university.
- Hospitality: A star-rated mini-hotel for hospitality training, with reception, rooms, a restaurant and bar.
- Electrical Engineering: workshops for mechanics, simulation, robotics, electro-mechanics, industrial production and high-end telecommunications.
- Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing: medicine and pharmacy laboratories for research in physiology, immunology, embryonic tissue, preparation, testing, pharmaceutical chemistry, industrial pharmaceutics, medical simulation, dummy surgery and a dental practice.
- Biotechnology: molecular biology laboratory with the latest equipment, such as large centrifuge, PCR, AB 3500 genetic analyzer, MaxQ 8000 shaker and DNA and protein electrophoresis systems for use in research into infectious diseases, genetics, biodiversity conservation, fermentation technology, cancer and pharmacology.
It is also these very modern facilities the university carefully invested in which allowed DTU to obtain ABET accreditation, the most prestigious accreditation in the world for engineering and technology, for Network Engineering and Management Information Systems in 2019. DTU became the second Vietnamese university to obtain American ABET accreditation, after the Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology

DTU admissions options include:
- Direct admission
- Admission based on High School Graduation Exam results
- High school transcript admission for all first degree majors, which comes in two formats:
+ based on 12th grade yearly averaged academic results for subjects under consideration
+ based on average of 11th grade and first semester of the 12th grade results
Many applicants now prefer the high school transcript option because it provides an objective and comprehensive assessment of their abilities, reduces pressure during their graduation exams and provides them with more choices of majors and universities. It also helps them to more confidently assess their academic strengths and weaknesses. The number of applicants signing up for this option has been high and consistent over the years.
Admissions minimums:
- All majors: a total three-subject score of 18 or higher
- Nursing: a total three-subject score of at least 19.5, or 12th grade applicants with honors or a graduation score of 6.5 or above
- Bachelor of Pharmacy, General Practitioner, Odontoid-Stomatology: a total three-subject score of 24 or greater or 12th grade magna cum laude and higher applicants or a high school graduation score of at least 8.0

For 2020, DTU continues to offer generous scholarships worth tens of billions of VND, to encourage and motivate students to perform to their utmost at university.
DTU regularly awards valuable scholarships to applicants with high graduation scores
Successful DTU applicants can obtain one of the following scholarships, based on their major and program:
- 550 scholarships with a 10% to 15% reduction in first-year tuition fees, applicable to several majors
- 65 full scholarships of 100% for all tuition fees in all years for applicants to the advanced and international CMU, PSU, CSU or PNU programs, with a three-subject High School Graduation Exam score of at least 23
- 50 full and partial scholarships for the On-Site Study-Abroad programs for American degree with total value of 18 billion VND for applicants with a three-subject High School Graduation Exam score of at least 22.
- 135 full and partial scholarships for foreign applicants and 90 full and partial scholarships for Vietnamese applicants for the Talent programs,
- 45 scholarships from American companies and universities, worth 10 to 20 million VND each, for students of the advanced and international CMU, PSU, CSU, or PNU programs
- 50 DTU scholarships for the advanced and international CMU, PSU, CSU or PNU programs.
