DTU Researcher Awarded the 2019 ASEAN-RoK Award for Excellence in Science, Technology and Innovation

Dr. Le Van Quyet, a Senior Researcher and Lecturer at the DTU Institute of Research at Duy Tan University, was honored to be the only ASEAN representative to receive the 2019 ASEAN-RoK Award for Excellence in Science, Technology and Innovation at the 2019 ASEAN-RoK Commemorative Summit in November 25th in Busan.

Reporter: Congratulations. Would you please say something about the 2019 ASEAN-RoK Award for Excellence in Science, Technology and Innovation?
 
Dr. Le Van Quyet: Thank you. The award, first introduced this year, is sponsored by the Multilateral Cooperation Division, of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) in the Republic of Korea. It celebrates the 30th anniversary of the establishment of an academic relationship between ASEAN and RoK and is intended to motivate young ASEAN researchers who are committed to excellence in science, technology and innovation, to publish advanced research papers and cooperate with Korean academia and research institutes.
 
The award covers research into the natural sciences including Physics, Mathematical Science, Chemistry, Nanoscience, Biology, Medicine and Engineering. The field of Engineering covers Mechanical, Aerospace and Environmental engineering and the most promising candidates will go on to be future leaders in Natural Science and Engineering research and development in ASEAN.
 
Reporter: What will you do at the 2019 ASEAN-RoK Commemorative Summit in late November?  
 
Dr. Le Van Quyet: I will present some research I have completed in collaboration with RoK research institutes and I have also been invited to speak at major ASEAN events in 2020, including the ASEAN-RoK STI Workshop (1Q, 2020) and the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation (AMMSTI, in 4Q, 2020).  I am proud that my research paper will be archived on the ASEAN and RoK MSIT websites and that my collaboration with Korean researchers will continue to be supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF).

Reporter: Could you tell us how you feel flying to Korea as a young researcher to receive this distinguished award?
 
Dr. Le Van Quyet: I am overjoyed to be the only ASEAN researcher to receive the award. It greatly encourages me to pursue my passion for research in the future and I would like to thank DTU for their constant support. DTU is the first university I have worked at since returning to Vietnam. I am delighted to discover that DTU is now one of the best teaching and research universities in Vietnam, which is vital for myself and other young researchers in strengthening our international experience and continuing to be successful in our daily research activities.
 
Reporter: Thank you for sharing your news with us. Once again, I would like to congratulate you on your achievements. 
 
Dr. Le Van Quyet has published 40 papers in international ISI/Scopus journals to date, in addition to winning a Hanshin scholarship for outstanding academic performance in Korea in 2016. His other awards include: Best Paper Awards at the 24th Korean conference on Semiconductors, in 2017 and 2018, and the Young Vietnamese Scientist Award in Korea, in 2018 and 2019.
