Forty Master’s degree graduates at the 4th International Research Summer School
Forty Master’s degree graduates and scholarship seekers from universities in Ha Noi, Quy Nhon, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang attended the fourth International Research Summer School, from August 23rd to 27th.
The International Research Summer School is an annual activity held by DTU and the British Council in order to assist Master’s degree graduates with tips for successful careers while pursuing PhDs in Electronics and Communications or in Information Technology.
The School consisted of a series of talks such as: Why pursue a PhD? and MSc or PhD? in addition to talks teaching advanced research skills like looking up and citing references, how to avoid plagiarism, how to write scientifically, how to present at conferences and writing peer review for academic journals.
Participants were also given tips on how to publish in ISI journals, the structure of an ISI-standard paper, how to use software in research and calculations and drafting a response to reviewers.
Particularly, they had an opportunity to present and get feedback on their works in Electronics and Communications, Information Technology, and Automation and to get to know the two full PhD scholarships with Associate Professor Duong Quang Trung at Queen’s University Belfast in 2018 and 2019.
Also, attendees were equipped with information on PhD scholarships and necessary procedures as well as scholarship applications; some tips on successfully applying for scholarships; working with a promotor; life as a PhD student and career options after graduation.
