DTU - The Private University Ranked at the Top of Vietnamese Private Universities

Twenty-three years since its inception, thanks to its outstanding development and increasingly high rankings, DTU has become nationally recognized and now has high hopes of realizing its dream of soon becoming one of the top three hundred Asian universities. 
  
The first private university in Vietnam to receive national quality accreditation
 
A Certificate of National Educational Quality can be considered as a passport, proving that the strategic goals the university have been effectively implemented under sustained effort.  
 
DTU was the first private university to apply for quality accreditation from the Center for Educational Accreditation of the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges. After a thorough assessment, DTU met 52 of the 61 criteria and received the certificate on February 20th 2017. The university has grown steadily and is now about to apply to several international organizations for further accreditation, including ABET, ACBSP and ACPHA.
 
DTU was listed in 2017 as one of the top Vietnamese private universities, coming 9th out of a total of 49, ranked by a group of independent researchers.

DTU has already surpassed many other private Vietnamese universities.  Webometrics is the world’s  largest academic ranking and, since 2004, independent, objective, free, open research is performed by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council, CSIC, to provide reliable, multidimensional, current information on the performance of universities worldwide, based on their web presence and impact.
 
DTU has one research paper published internationally on average every day
 
DTU has been accelerating research activities over the past five years and published 340 papers in international ISI-listed journals, including 12 in Scopus and 13 in other international publications in 2017 alone. The university is currently conducting 1 national, 4 Ministerial, 22 Nafosted projects and several other projects in collaboration with research institutions in the UK, the US and Germany. 
 
Prestigious prizes 
 
A significant first-place award for a private university, for its 3D Human Body Simulator, was presented by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the 2017 Vietnamese Talent Awards, held at Hanoi's Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace on November 16th. The product was developed at DTU by Dr. Le Nguyen Bao, Le Van Chung, Trinh Hiep Hoa, Le Khac Trieu Hung, Nguyen Luong Tho, Nguyen Minh Duc and Le Hoang Quoc Bao.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc presents first prize in IT to DTU at the 2017 Vietnamese Talent Awards 
 
Dr. Vo Nguyen Son of DTU and his colleague also won the 2017 Newton Prize worth £200,000, approximately 6 billion vnd, by the Newton Fund for their project entitled: “Building a Foundation for Sustainable Development: Networked Societies for the Cities of Tomorrow”. This humanitarian project warns residents in locations vulnerable to natural disasters in advance, to help reduce their losses.
  
DTU students have also been honored in national and international competitions, with the 2013 CDIO Cup at the CDIO Academy, held at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA, at the Asia-Pacific Regional IDEERS Champions Cup during the 2014 IDEERS convention, held at the National Centre for Research on Earthquake Engineering in Taiwan, ranked 2nd in Vietnam by CTFtime, as East Asian runners-up in the 2016 Go Green City competition and at the Vietnamese National Microsoft Imagine Cup in 2016 and 2017.
